Carol-

Let me first say I TOO don't recommend any of what I have tried. This was my

experience and I wanted to know why I didn't see the outcomes that SOOOOO many

here experience even if their child eats a single goldfish cracker. I

anticipated such a response and almost didn't post because of such possiblity of

responses.

Let me assure you, I have been fanatical about this diet since Nov. 06'. In

response to your questions: I don't want approval for these choices, I don't

plan to continue it, I am not catering to his cravings to benifit someone in our

family and as far as a diagnosis- I can't say we really have one. I am a

psychologist and based on DSM criteria, my son meets autisitic criteria- all be

it - very high functioning. Two pediatricians say there is " NO WAY " this boy is

autisitic, his speech therapist and OT say he is, and I know he meets criteria

and would be considered at least developmentally delayed. I have alot of tests

saying his body is malfunctioning, one test says yeast the next time it says no

yeast, he has calcium disregulation, we've been told he has clostridia, but not

dificile, tests don't indicate leaky gut etc..... He shows no consistency on any

test. Basically, all I know is my son is developmentally delayed and based on

these biological tests I am trying

to address his bio-chemical " malfunctions " .

My son has not experienced to any degree the same results that most have here

and I have followed this site for the last seven months. And let me say again I

HAVE been fanatical to the point of large marital and family blow ups because of

my adherence. Despite this I have continued because I know treating my child

with SCD will hurt nothing. I will honestly say I am searching for anything

that will give my child the results that SCD has given many here.

It was his birthday and I threw adherence to the wind basically because I have

seen little change in behavior or poop since starting the diet and I decided to

redo the intro the next day and go back to normal SCD expecting the

behavioral/poop consequences of my actions. Since nothing happened I was

suprised and continued a few more times, knowing I would trigger something- but

got nothing... hence my post. I guess this was my unconsious way of testing

this diet. I keep detailed behavior and food journal, so I will keep an eye on

things, because like you said I may not see things for a couple of weeks. My

doctor always says my child is the best indicator of what is working -

regardless of what the tests says. And since I have great improvements in the

last few weeks, it just all makes my head spin and makes me question--- once

again the reason for my post.

I appreciate your response, without people like you on the list I would not

have been as fanatical as i have been for the last 7 months.

Lucky Becky!

And I am trying to figure out why you are doing these experiments?

SCD demands fanatical adherance. Maybe you feel you really don't need it. My

experience

is that consuming illegals can bring a delayed reaction as much as two weeks

later.

From your post I can't figure out whether:

A. You want approval for this

b. You plan to repeat it

c. Your objective of catering to your child's illegal cravings is of some

benefit to someone

in the family.

d. You have received a misdiagnosis.

In any case I am sure my response here will not endear me to the list, but I am

commited

to see that SCD does not have its integrity compromised. I hope others will now

not try to

imitate your behavior and risk regeression and gut damage before healing can

continue.

With all the variety SCD offers, including very good legal pizza, I can neither

find a reason

for your " good luck, " nor condone it if you plan to carry through with this

diet.
