Guest guest
I had my surgery on 11-8 and have had no dumping syndromes, nor embarrassing " gas " or " bowel " moments......LOL Remember that everyone's body is different so we will all experience things different. Your new tummy will tell you what you can and can't eat......believe me. Some foods have made me nauseous and I know not to eat them again. Christy / CA MGB 11-8-00 240/215/??? Guest guest
I have a question for post-op MGBers. Do you experience dumping syndrome, gas, fecal urgency and odor that leads to embarrassing situations? I am curious because it was told to me that Dr. R's procedure would increase these types of symptoms. I feel the best way to get the correct answer is to ask someone who has been through the procedure.
Guest guest
Hi: All of the below happened when I was first post-op. However, at 6 mos. post op, everything is normal...in fact, much better than before surgery in terms of urgency, etc. Everyone is different. For the first four months or so, high fat foods would mean that I had to remain near a bathroom. If I was going to be somewhere the next day which would not be near a bathroom, I had to make sure that for a few days beforehand I didn't eat high fat food. Everything seems to even out after a few months. In the beginning, we seem to get all kinds of strange symptoms, feelings, reactions, etc. but it all changes over time and eventually we don't even have to think about the closeness of a bathroom, who will be walking in next, etc. Relax everyone. Guest guest
pgpayne - I had embarrasing gas for the first couple of months but it has all but left me now. I think that I make better choices on what to eat now and that has made a big difference. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I have never experience any dumping and I don't find the flatus to be any more or less than preop. I have experienced fecal urgency but only usually after something with too high a fat content to be eating in the first place. Hope this information helps.
