Guest guest
Hi all, My daughter has had a head cold for what feels like 6 weeks now. It first started about 3 weeks into the beginning of SCD, at which point her chest got so bad her doctor recommended ventolin to help break up the mucus. That helped and then she seemed to get better. But now she has yet another cold which she caught maybe two weeks after the last one and this time its lasted well over two weeks and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. She's otherwise not unhappy, seems to just have gotten used to it, there's no fevers or anything like that, just a constant runny, mucky nose and an extremely congested chest (not tight, very phlegmy). This time round she hasn't needed to use the ventolin and I know its not infected because she'd have a fever for sure and would be more miserable. BUT - I'm now really worried that its maybe one of the foods she's eating thats causing this. Was re-reading some notes I have and found a page with all the symptoms for food intolerance listed and runny nose and chest congestion was one of them!! At the moment we haven't progressed very far with foods, and her daily diet looks something like this - Breakfast 1/2 teasp. Ghee 1/2 teasp. Coconut Oil 2 eggs, scrambled 2 tbls cooked butternut pumpkin Morning Tea 1/2 banana, mashed with stewed pears Lunch 1/3 of an avocado, mixed in with chicken, beef mince, lamb mince stewed pears Afternoon Tea 1/2 banana, mashed with stewed pears Dinner some butternut pumpkin, mixed with chicken, beef, lamb ghee coconut oil small amount of cooked, skinned and deseeded tomatoes. I've been working really carefully with an SCD counsellor to get where we are at present and I'm almost positive there are no other hidden nasties in any of her food as I made sure to get rid of them all. So I'm quite worried that I may have to eliminate something unless this illness disappears... Anyway I just would love to hear what somebody else thinks about this. She's also taking Lactobacillus acidophilus daily as well as CLO and super nu-thera hypoallergenic capsules. AND she's on Methyl B12 shots..... Thanks heaps,
Guest guest
What about trying to eliminate some of the foods one at a time. For example, it's fairly common that some kids can't tolerate banana. You could take out the banana for a few days to see if her cold seems to begin to clear up. If not, add them back in, and pull out the stewed pears and so on. Are you meats grassfed or just regular organic or just regular grocery store meats? I know that some people also cannot tolerate meats that were raised on grains. Meleah Constant nasal congestion and persistent cough??? Guest guest
, My daughter received Methyl B12 shots a few years ago and had cold symptoms much of the time, so maybe it's not diet for your daughter.
