Guest guest
Hi, I am new to all this so please forgive my stumbling mistakes. My wife is having very painful stomach cramps, followed by vomiting. She also has had a few fevers. She spent the entire weekend (last weekend) in this cycle and was only able to eat sunday night. I regret that I had her drinking gatoraid by then and she ate only a couple of crackers and some banana baby food (she cried with joy for the taste of the cracker and I nearly lost it). She had a mostly normal week, with a tender stomach. She has been eating mostly babyfood all week, plus a few bananas, and the homemade yogurt of course. She had a kidney stone two weeks ago so she has dramatically upped her water intake as well. This afternoon she developed the stomach cramps again, and has been vomiting too, so far no fever though. She has been losing weight, of course, and I am very concerned that she may start to see new problems if I can't break this cycle soon. Any advice would be much appreciated. She is now on the intro diet again and has been on the SCD diet for almost 3 months now. She took two anti-gas pills when she got home, and two tylenol. Her doctor suspects Crohns disease, but it is undiagnosed. She has also received acupuncture, healing touch, and reiki therapy. thank you for your help, john kelly

Ripe pureed bananas can be substitued for illegal baby food. << She had a mostly > normal week, with a tender stomach. How was she prior to the kidney stone? Is it possible the stomach cramps, fever and vomiting is caused by a virus? Has she been tested for parasites (giardia etc..)? IS she on any meds? Supplements? (Some cause kidney stones) (Is the accupuncture helping with the pain? I had magnetic accupuncture a few years ago and was suprised how it stopped cramping - at least temporarily.) Guest guest
Hi Sheila, thanks for the welcome and receipies; I will look them up. > How are her bowel movements (diarrhea, constipation, bleeding etc..? > What is the frequency? No bleeding thank god. After the first two weeks, her diarrhea stopped, and had soft but normal stools most of the time until about three weeks ago--which would be about 2 months on the diet. She had incorporated some cooked veggies like zuchinni, yellow onion, yellow squash and butternut squash; all cooked hard, baked or pan fried in olive oil. She had also been eating pure peanut butter and some almond bread. She takes a variety of suppliments. Flaxseed oil(omega3), vit.E, a multi-vit., plant enzyme pill, and L-glutamine. So things are looking up, and then she gets sick. She runs a high fever, can't eat, and is vomiting everything she manages to get down for 2 days. The following week she is a wreck, barely managing to eat and keep it together, things are just starting to quiet down and then she passes a kidney stone. A 3mm one that takes another 2 days to travel through her. The next week is rocky but okay, then last weekend she has bad cramps all weekend again, this time no fever, but can't keep food down until sunday night when I broke down and offered her food off the diet to get her to eat something. My nerves were shot and I didn't want to have to take her to the hospital, but I was running out of options. Thursday she ate some resturant grilled chicken and cheese cubes at work and spent the rest of the evening doubled over in pain with cramps, nausea, and vomiting. Today she has been much better, and has promised me to return to the strict into diet for a while. > Is it possible the stomach cramps, fever and vomiting is caused by a virus? Has she been tested for parasites (giardia etc..)? Don't know. We haven't been to a doctor for the cramps yet. She is trying to get an appointment with someone her acupuncturist reccomended as being open to the idea of the diet as a treatment plan. She wants to be tested to rule out other possibilities, but we haven't had a chance to get them yet. Soon, I hope. > > IS she on any meds? Supplements? (Some cause kidney stones) No meds, and only the supplements I listed earlier. She has never been one to drink enough water, but she is peeing clear now. The kidney stone has changed that behavior. I only hope it is enough to keep that problem off the horizon. > > (Is the accupuncture helping with the pain? I had magnetic > accupuncture a few years ago and was suprised how it stopped > cramping - at least temporarily.) She only gets the accupuncture every other week (expensive), but she says it helps with the chronic pains. I've never tried it, so I don't know much about that. I'll tell her about the magnetic accupuncture so that she can ask her accupuncturist about it the next time she sees him. Thanks so much for your advice and support, this is a real test for me. I'm learning as much as I can, and greatly appreciate your help. jk

The recent symptoms sound very similar to what she went through the first time with the kidney stone. This time it only lasted for a day. She was sore and tired on friday, but was able to keep food down just fine. Today she has actually been hungry, and has had only minor cramps, but unfortunately, the diarehia has returned. She has been eating steady all day, which is great! It has been a good day today. I will look into the salt and OJ factor on the kidney stone. Thanks for the tip. jk
Guest guest
Are you sure she isn’t having symptoms of diverticolitis, my husband has this and these are his symptoms when it flares up… you need to get her to a Dr. to test her white blood count, it means the pockets have exploded on her intestines and have now infected her body… Hope this isn’t it, but it’s better to get it tested as this could be life threatening if not caught in time…..
