Guest guest
Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone can help me. I have a 4 yr old son with autism who is very hyper a lot of the time (and always has been). We have been GFCF for over a year and have been trying to implement the SCD diet for over a month. After an initial good start, I made an error of judgement in introducing nut flours and SCD sheep yoghurt too much and too soon. Suddenly he was very hyper after being pretty calm. We went back to basics and removed all supplements again and have started back on the intro diet. During the intro diet my son was very calm but very lethargic. As soon as we have begun to introduce some new foods the hyperness is back. I know I must have done something wrong. I have given him the following since finishing the intro diet. Ripe banana Stewed pear peeled cooked zuccini fresh squeezed home made pear juice (no pulp) I had also given him oxypowder after reading it was ok and he had not passed a stool for 3 days. This caused extreme runny stools which surprised me as previously he need 5 to move anything, and this time I only gave him 2 and a half. The only other thing that I think may be wrong is that we gave him some boiled bacon after the intro diet. It was sugar free but does contain nitrates! This is not something that seemed to bother my son when he was GFCF. We have stopped nystatin since introducing the diet as well, but I dont think we are seeing yeast flare ups (have been treatin my sons candida for 8 months now under a UK DAN nutrionalist and Dr Bradstreet in Florida. Anyway, if anyone can see th error of my ways and recommend a way forward I would be SO GRATEFUL!!!. I can see some good things happening in my son under the surface. When things were going well before I overdid the yoghurt and nut flours he was like a different boy! Am keen to get the yoghurt back in, in a small does again as this seem to make a difference. Many Thanks, Sophie

Did you start the pears before the zucchini? Was the zucchini tolerated? << Anyway, if anyone can see th error of my ways and recommend a way forward I would be > SO GRATEFUL!!!. After that I'd suggest readding the peeled , cooked zucchini. Then slowly try the pears - I think this may be a yeast reaction. If it is restarting the yogurt should help.
