Introducing yogurt-fresh vs. frozen?

Hi everyone.

I haven't posted in a long time but had 2 questions I wanted to throw out

there for debate and/or clarification:

1. Is it better to introduce yogurt in its frozen form (ie yogurt pops) or

its fresh form? It seems to me that everyone warns of die off from inrtoducing

fresh yogurt and that the symptoms of die off mimic those of intolerance of the

yogurt. So doesn't it stand to reason that it'd be better to try yogurt frozen

first, and if you can't tolerate it that way, its likely because you can't do

dairy? But if you CAN tolerate it frozen, you'd slowly try the yogurt in its

fresh form and any bad reaction would clearly be die off? Maybe I'm missing

something??? Sure, this way you would not get any probiotic benefit from the

initial frozen yogurt trial, but at least you wouldn't have to wonder whether

your bad reaction to fresh yogurt was from die off or from intolerance to dairy.

(I'm sure there must be an error in my reasoning, so I'd appreciate someone with

knowledge responding.)

2. Is your answer to question #1 above different when the person doing SCD is

a child with autism vs. an adult with a gastro disease? Do autistic kids have a

harder time doing dairy and if so why?

I have a 5yo boy with autism who has been SCD non dairy for 2 1/2 years and

I'd like to introduce SCD dairy but am scared to death to rock the boat since

his stools have finally firmed up since last Oct. He'll be starting kindergarten

in Sept and I'd like to do this trial now, before that change happens, incase it

goes badly. Any advice?

Thanks!

Yes, it is a good idea to introduce the goat yogurt in another form if you want

to be sure that he isn't reacting to the casein. Most people will make their

yogurt, and then use it in a recipe that requires baking. The baking will kill

any of the probiotic bacteria. If reacts, you would know that it is the casein.
