Our DAN! is saying that we need to make sure we're using stainless

steel cookware for baking (no alumimum). SHe suggested buying from a

restaurant supply store.

Has anyone seeked these products out and if so, where did you get

yours?

Thanks!

Aluminum has been disdained for years now. There are many, many good brands of

stainless steel cookware. It can be costly but lasts a lifetime (especially if

you are old ;-)

Many bake with silicone now, non stick and colorful. I haven't tried it and my

muffin batter

always goes into cuocake paper liners anyhow. I do use old aluminum tins for

those but

haven't baked in months since dessert is usually a " Depth Charge. " (yogurt with

a big

spoon of almond butter and honey poured over it).

For cookie sheets you'd be safe with your aluminum if you cover them

with a silicone mat. For cake pans you can get Pyrex/tempered glass.

For casseroles there is also Corningware.

Does anyone know what kind of stuff, if anything, comes out of a silicone mat

when it's heated? Just thinking something must leak out of it but I don't know.

Also if your buying stainless steel pots, bring your magnet with you. If it

doesn't stick to it, it's not all stainless steel. Pearl

Cuisinart makes stainless steel with a encapsulated aluminium bottle (pan itself

is stainless steel ) That should be ok right?

Well, I usually just believe my husband when he tells me something is

inert (he teaches chemistry and physics), but I found this discussion

as well. I don't know anything about the qualifications of this Debra

Lynn Dadd, though.

Just wanted to add my 2-cents on stainless steel cookware. I invested

a whopping load in one large Royal Prestige stainless steel pot. I

immediately hated that I spent so much, but lemme tell you, I have

used it loads! it has a 50 years warranty... no matter how you break

it, they replace it. I have already melted the whistle, got a bumped

up handle and they have already replaced both! http://

www.royalprestige.com/ I really like it because it makes cooking

much easier. Just pour in fruits and veggies and spices... without

oil or water. Turn it on med heat, it whistles, close the whistle and

turn it to low heat... let it cook for 10 minutes. Viola. So simple

and the food really tastes superb! Better yet, I dont have to stand

over it while it cooks! :)

Ok. enough with the infomercial. ;) Another set of cookware I have

been looking at is called ScanPan. They have a ceramic/titanium non-

stick surface. I have seen these recommended by eco-friendly users.

Seem to be highly recommended. They are from Denmark and have a

really good design. I have found them on Amazon for not too much.
