Guest guest
Thank you for the encouragement, Carol. Having thought about it an awful lot over this past year, I can definitely say that following SCD on top of keeping kosher is (at least for my family) difficult. So many main course recipes for SCD combine meat and dairy, which is a major " no no " in kashrut, and the standard go-arounds, like using margarine or soy milk are, of course, not allowed. I do feel kind of " tossed by the waves against the rocks " many times: either something is kosher, but not SCD-legal, or is okay on SCD, but isn't kosher. So it sure is nice to talk with other folks in the same boat! Thanks again. And, for anyone who missed it the first time, the Kosher SCD group is at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/KosherSCD/ Ellen 9 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's

There are meat recipes where mayo can be used in place of yogurt. Example. When I " bread " chicken, I dredge it in mayo before shaking it in a bag of almond meal. Vegetarian Lasagna is just as good as meat. Use a lot of mushrooms for volume. Putting froaen fruit through an Omega Juicer makes a frozen dessert that seems to have cream in it yet is only fruit. I thicken things by adding a litle almond flour. Carol F.
