Guest guest
HISTORY OF MY PROGRESS: I have been SCD since April. I started out eating everything on the diet. I realized the end of May that that wasn´t working. I started with intro but then progressed too rapidly through. About 2 weeks ago started intro again and have stuck to pretty much only meat. I began introducing very very cooked carrots last week, very very cooked green beans and zucchini/cucumber. I have had formed stools for about a week now (For the first time in years, something halfway decent!) I tried banana cautiously two days ago, and my stools became too mushy. So will avoid sweet stuff and fruit for a little bit longer. 1. My obgyn thinks I might have endometriosis (I have dealt with intense pain for circa 12 years now). I have an appointment for laproscopy in a few weeks so they can confirm the diagnosis. (They will just make a little incision in my belly-button and stick a camera in.) My question: does anyone have experience with how surgery will affect my progress? I will be under anesthesia and will probably have pills (with starch no doubt) for a few days and maybe antibiotics... not sure? If I keep on the intro diet with goat yogurt, will that maybe minimize damage? 2. I made the mistake of mentioning to my mother-in-law that I haven´t been able to tolerate fruits or vegetables lately. She really really wants me to go to a doctor because she says something isn´t working right if I cant eat fruit/veggies. Well, yes, that I am sure of. Something isn´t right. I am just not sure how much help doctors here can give me since SCD isn´t very well-known in Norway (where I live). I CAN consult a doctor who knows a lot about food intolerances, but in yall´s experience, would it be helpful to consult a specialist or dietician who might be able to help me through this? I seem to be a very clear-cut BTVC case with no health-effects of a bad gut except for diarrhea when I eat something too advanced. Should I just stay the course for a few more weeks and hope I can advance to fruits/veggies soon? How long should I stay on intro/stage 1 before I seek help from a doctor? 3. Vit C: It is difficult to find legal vit c in Norway. (especially Vit C that my husband can tolerate since he seems to be intolerant to citrus). If I still cant eat raw bananas and cooked apples, would it be stupid to try to make some fresh veggie/fruit juice to get Vit C? Anyone know what veggies or fruits would have lots of Vit C but minimum acid? Thanks so much!! -
Guest guest
Hi , I'll let others answer your questions, but I just wanted to let you know there is a very good book on sauna therapy I have read that explains why sauna is an ideal treatment for endometriosis. If you get that diagnosis & are interested, let me know and I'll send you the amazon link. - wrote: HISTORY OF MY PROGRESS: I have been SCD since April. I started out eating everything on the diet. Guest guest
Hi I cured my endimetriosis by staying on this diet and taking primal defense and colostrums.. I only now break it on special occasions, and when I went back to the Dr. three months later, she said your cured, what did you do, I told her and she said I’m very proud of you, and I have been pain free for 4 yrs. Now…Funny she never told me about a diet, I Learned this from an attendant at Whole Foods health food store, when I asked the dr. about this she said she couldn’t tell me because diets are considered alternative, can you imagine., hope this helps… Corinne _____ From: pecanbread [mailto:pecanbread ] On Behalf Of Rob or Sunseri Sent: Friday, July 20, 2007 1:28 AM To: pecanbread Subject: Re: Surgery and SCD, doctor´s assistance and Vit C? Guest guest
A week or two ago, I began to notice that I am not experiencing the same endometrial symptoms as I did 3-6 months ago. I was wondering if it was possible to cure endometriosis with SCD. Thus, I want to have the laproscopi to prove that I indeed have endometriosis... then I hope diet will cure it. And if my Endo. clears up, then I can have this silly hormonal IUD removed. I dont really love having plastic/nylon inside me. haha. A little too holistic/organic/eco- loving. Thanks so much for the advice and confirmation regarding endo! Anyone had any experience with how anesthesia and antibiotics affected them while on SCD? Any juice ideas? Thanks! - > > Hi I cured my endimetriosis by staying on this diet and taking primal > defense and colostrums.. My question: does anyone have experience with how surgery will> affect my progress?>> Constipation is not uncommon after surgery. Anaesthesia/meds used can trigger this. Increased fluids and legal sources of fiber (fruits and veggies) may help if it happens to you. <<I will be under anesthesia and will probably have> pills (with starch no doubt) for a few days and maybe antibiotics... > not sure? If I keep on the intro diet with goat yogurt, will that > maybe minimize damage?>> If you have to take antibiotics, taking legal yogurt and/or probiotics (some people do both) between doses of antibiotics, may help with the GI upset that often accompanies antibiotics. It is imortant to take the antibiotics in between doses as the antibiotics can kill the good bacteria. S. boulardii is lauded as a great help against the diarrhea that can occur with antibiotics. Since it is a good yeast the antibiotics don't harm it and the S. boulardii prevents strong harmful microbes from overgrowing. You can take S. boulardii at the same time as antibiotics. I have found S. boulardii very helpful for me and keep some on hand in case I ever *have* to take antibiotics again. <<2. If they are open minded enough to consider SCD they may be able to help. I think that you are already seeing positive results since you reported your first solid stool in years (Yay!!) - so it sounds as if you are on the right path. It may just mean you need more time for your body to heal to be able to tolerate fruits. Do you have any yeast symptoms? Thrush, itchy rashes, vaginal yeast infections etc.. Yeast overgrowth is pretty common with hormonal imbalances. PreSCD I was diagnosed with cervical dysplaysia. The specialist was very concerned because it seemed to be progressing rapidly. I asked about on the SCD lists for some advice and was advised to have my B vitamin levels checked (blood draw). My B levels were out of balance. When I fixed it (by diet alone) I started having regular periods and my next appointment showed that the dysplaysia had dissapeared. My specialist was amazed. Both her and her surgical nurse took all the info about the diet. I have also had Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) for years. My symptoms included very irregular periods, cystic acne and infertility. With the diet I now have regular periods. It may sound funny to some people but I am grateful to finally have a " monthly visitor " . << I seem to be a> very clear-cut BTVC case with no health-effects of a bad gut except> for diarrhea when I eat something too advanced. It just may take some time before you can tolerate fruits. << 3. Vit C: It is difficult to find legal vit c in Norway. What is not legal is time released vitamins. Buffered Vitamin C (as above) can prevent some people, especially the Irish, from getting tummy aches with unbuffered Vitamin C. If still having symptoms make sure the pulp is removed. I have a cheap juicer and when I began juicing I put the homemade juice through a coffee filter. Since you have been having problems with fruits it may be best to start with only a small amount of (raw) juice from peeled fruit and have it heavily diluted. If you tolerate it okay gradually reduce the dilution. << Anyone know what veggies or fruits would have lots of Vit C but > minimum acid?>> Red fuji apples, red delicious and redwell apples are low acid and have some vit C. Cantaloupe. Do you have a problem with fruit acids? Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
