We just purchased the book and will soon be beginning the diet for

our 21 mo. old. I have a question about past food intros. What are

your thoughts on have severe intolerances to " orange " foods, i.e.,

carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, etc. I found it odd that

all " orange " foods caused such severe issues. Your thoughts? Thank

you!

Here is a statement from an article on food allergy/intolerance:

" The other potential sources of antigens in food, apart from the

proteins, are small molecules such as phenols, amines and carotenoids. "

All your orange foods have carotenoids, so maybe you are sensitive to

them??

Don't the foods you mentioned have a high sugar content? I think they are

high carbs. I can only eat carrots out of the winter squash, pumpkin and

sweet potatoes (illegal on SCD) because of the type of fiber (stringy)--it

just kills me.

Maybe someone else who has more experience will answer you.

Sweet potatoes are not allowed on SCD. Excess consumption of orange foods can

result in

What kind of reactions/issues are there?

Were these the first foods introduced or were they alongside grains,

infant cereals etc..?

Sometimes once SCD is begun and the gut begins to heal previously

untolerated foods are tolerated.
