Guest guest
My 21 mo old is on EleCare only...which I discovered is illegal since it is mostly corn. We just got a script for starting compounded Pentasa for chronic colitis. Since he is EleCare only, he has a constipation problem. Would like to use baby organic prunes vice all the constipation meds that are killing him...but the prunes bother him also....seems everything does...but maybe it is the EleCare. So, in what order should we implement the following: Pentasa, SCD, probiotics? And how do we get rid of the EleCare. Also, if we implement the intro diet, I think he will be more constipated. Since he hasn't had other food, can we go directly to stage 1? I hope this makes sense. Help!

Once he gets off the elecare the constipation may clear up. If he has die off from all the microbes dying you can use epsom slat baths to try and prevent the constipation from getting worse <<So, > in what order should we implement the following: Pentasa, SCD, > probiotics? Also, if we > implement the intro diet, I think he will be more constipated.>> The intro diet need only be done for 2-3 days since you are dealing with constipation. You could also skip the intro and go back to it later if you are concerned that there will be too much die off. I would suggest that you stick to peeled and well cooked vegetables (maybe pureed) until your son starts showing improvement. <<So, > in what order should we implement the following: Pentasa, SCD, > probiotics?>> I can't tell you what to do for your son but if it was my child I would start them on the diet ASAP. Then if necessary I would consider the Pentasa. Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs, PCOD 22yrs mom of and
