Guest guest
Hi there. I have been told I have moderate dysbiosis by a EDS practitioner. I had a full dental revision last year at Dr.Huggins clinic in Colorado and thought we lived a fairly healthy lifestyle. We have an almost 6 yr old son and almost 3 yr old daughter. We juice, sprout, eat organic, don't eat junk, we've been about 95% unprocessed foods, and also gluten/wheat/soy/dairy/yeast/corn free for a couple years now after we found out what foods the kids were sensitive to. It really showed behaviourally thru my kids even back when I was breastfeeding. Anyhow, this practitioner has suggested a SCD to heal my gut issues. I bought the book today and have been reading the Pecan bread site end for end. Wow, looks like I should apply this to the whole family. I bet my children have gut issues too! Now one thing she did say, was that it was ok to eat grains ONLY if they were sprouted. She said sprouts were fine. However, I can't find any information on sprouted grains at the pecan website. Can someone offer me a site that will explain if this is ok, and why or why not? However, she also mentioned Ambrotose was ok, however, I see that it is listed as an " illegal " ! To start off, it's just going to be me tackling this, so I can get a handle on it, of course I'll just make extra of everything I make and the kids will eat it along wtih me - we homeschool and live in the country so that part should be easy ;-) I look forward to finding some short cuts to 'getting' all of this. has anyone done any 'meal planning' weeks or months that will help newcomers? thanks in advance warmly Canada
Guest guest
Sprouted grains are the most digestible form of grains, but they are not legal. They might be the ideal way to reintro grains if you go off the diet after you are free of symptoms for 1 year. - wendy wrote: Hi there. She said sprouts were fine. Sprouted grains are not allowed as they contain the food supply for the grain in the form of carbohydrtaes that are not the right kind. You may prefer to read about SCD legal fermented foods on the Pecanbread website. http://www.pecanbread.com/new/fermented1.html Many doctors who approve of SCD are not totally familiar with it and insert their own protocols and treatment preferences. , I am in Toronto. If you need sources for SCD things anbd also check out this website for local SCD in Southern Ontario. http://uclbs.org/ Carol F. Here is what Elaine wrote about sprouts: " Re: new mom with some questions.... 2003-07-24 18:48:00 <Elaine Gottschall ....why are been sprouts not allowed whereas soaked only beans are? From Elaine Bean sprouts are OK if you just use the sprouts and get rid of the remaining seed pod (remaining seed pod contains starch which the plant has not yet converted). The sprout contains only the correct sugars - even plants cannot grow on starch - it has to be broken down so that the " bloodstream " of the plant will accept the glucose and use it for energy for growth. As the beans sprout, their own digestive enzymes convert the starch to legal sugars.
