Guest guest
Wondering if anyone has comments on the use of different fish oils and how they effect (positively/negatively) your child? Our son was taking Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil however, we've stopped as we find the vitamin A in it makes him irritable (It took some time to tease that out). We're now using Carlson's Fish Oil (with no vitamin A). We see no good or bad effects, after about a month. Has anyone had good effects from Carlson's Salmon Oil? I notice the Omega 3's are different in each: Carlson's Fish Oil: EPA 800 mg , DHA 500 mg (per teaspoon) Carlson's Salmon Oil: EPA 360mg, DHA 250 mg (2 soft gels) N.N. Cod Liver Oil: EPA 410mg , DHA 625mg (per teaspoon) Is there a better ratio of one to the other?

It works well for me. There seems to be all sorts of recommendations for varying ratios of omega-3 f.a.'s, dependant on age, what you need help with, what is tolerated, various conditions. For example it was recommended to me to take Flax seed oil, evening primrose oil by a professional. I checked about the internet and it seems to be contraindicated for someone with my particular subset of problems. My literature search indicated that I would do better with fish oil omegas. I started taking them and almost immediately I began to notice substantial results in my bm's. This may help you determine what is best for your son. http://www.bbbautism.com/dan_mcginnis_2.htm Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23 yrs, PCOD 22 yrs mom of and
Guest guest
Thank you, Sheila, for your response to my fish oil question. I'll read the link you posted. While I'm certain omega's are helpful to our son, we've been trying various kinds in order to find the best one for him. A lengthy (and expensive!) process.
