Guest guest
I am new here, but I wanted to share something I came across about B12. I realize that it is part of the SCD protocol but it would be worth exploring perhaps. I used to have B12 injections, even when I was pregnant... however when I was at DR. Huggins clinic in Colorado he was adamant that NONE of us should ever supplement with (unless from food) or have injections of b-12. He could not be more passionate about this. I don't believe he is the 'be all' by any means, but I loved the fact that he said it's not him telling us how to eat or change our lifestyles- it's our own blood chemistries that guide us to EACH find what our bodies need. He says that in order to move blood chemistries into optimal ranges- there are certain protocols to be followed and then tweaked for each person- ie. the Ancestral Diet (not Blood type diet) but eating what we were intended to eat. If anyone is not familiar with Huggins, he was the pioneer in blowing the whistle on mercury amalgam fillings. He has many awesome books and has been helping people to get well by following a strict protocol of removing mercury fillings etc. and properly chelating heavy metals out. He also gave us case histories of people that had made so much progress then had B-12 injections and became either ill or lost alot of ground because of the mercury being methylated! Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, but I have alot of mercury so it's something for me to avoid. Anyhow, enough of that, back to B-12 I have his notes here somewhere, ok...here is one part: <snip of quote by Dr. Huggins> Many times when giving Vitamin C, they will also try to give B12, which is a methylator, in any form. Methylation of mercury is much more toxic. It it very common to put B vitamins in an IV solution from these doctors. B12 always present in B complex supplements, usually 150 micrograms. B12 supplements 1000x more. This will result in a huge insult of methyl mercury. Will cause a secondary immune response like nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, headaches, bringing back whatever your original problem is. <end snip> but I also just came across the same thing in: Optimal Nutrition for Optimal Health (The Real Truth about eAting Right, weight loss, detoxification, low cholesterol, better digestion and overall WEll-being) by E. Levy M.D., J.D. Vitamin B-12: important for the maintenance of proper nerve function and blood synthesis. Unless a clear deficiency syndrome exists (pernicious anemia and/or markedly low blood levels of the vitamin) consider AVOIDING ANY SUPPLEMENTATION, since supplement forms of B12can promote the METHYLATION of inorganic mercury in the body making it MUCH MORE TOXIC and causing clinical compromise. Common dietary sourcess: meat, seafood, poultry. > I think it was the folinic acid/B12. Guest guest
Hmm, interesting info. I'll keep that in mind. Surprisingly, I don't think we have much of an issue with mercury though. K in Dayton, Ohio Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Fibro, CFS, yeast/candida, copper overload, adrenal fatigue(mostly healed!!!) Kids: son Rhowan 5 yrs old, chronic diarrhea/loose stools, yeast/candida, ADHD, salicylate intolerance; daughter Willow 6.5 yrs old, mild GI issues, salicylate intolerance Started SCD June 2006, went slightly off for awhile in Nov 2006, back on strict SCD starting May 2007. (Just redid intro the last week of June 2007 and are struggling to find tolerated foods) > > I am new here, but I wanted to share something I came across about > B12. Guest guest
Keep in mind that Dr. Huggins findings are in direct opposition of what other doctors are finding. In a published study, Dr. Jill found that MB-12 elevated glutathione levels in kids with autism. Glutathione is key in the body's natural ability to remove mercury. - Kuykendall wrote: Hmm, interesting info. I'll keep that in mind. Guest guest
Good info thanks. I'll keep that in mind as well. Guess it all depends on the person's particular body chemistry. > > > > I am new here, but I wanted to share something I came across about > > B12.
