Guest guest
I checked the archives and couldn't find any info so am asking if anyone has any information on which category this would fall into for the SCD? thanks, in Canada - newcomer to SCD (currently gluten/dairy/soy/corn/yeast/junk free ;-)) http://www.sourcesalba.com/faq.php Salba® is gluten free and makes an excellent substitute for flour (1 part ground Salba® replaces 3 parts flour). It can be used as an effective thickener for gravy, soups or sauces and can replace eggs in any recipe (¼ cup Salba® Gel as made with 2 tbsp of ground Salba® and ½ cup cold water can replace 1 egg). Salba® can help provide the key nutrients children and adolescents need to develop into strong and healthy adults Salba® is pure nutrition and 100% side-effect free. This natural whole food has gone through more than 15 years of clinical testing and study to prove its safety and nutritional benefits. Salba® even holds a US medical patent (#60-274.256) and is the only whole food in existence that is medically patented. Since Salba® is an Ancient Grain, is it safe for me? Absolutely, yes. Salba® is 100% gluten-free and safe for Celiacs or those with wheat allergies. Because Salba® is grown in some of the most nutrient-rich soil in the world, in the pristine land surrounding the Amazon Basin in Peru, it's packed with more naturally occurring vitamins and minerals than many fresh fruits, vegetables and dairy products. Gram for gram one 12g (2 flat tablespoons) serving of this whole food offers: 7 TIMES more Vitamin C than an orange. This antioxidant vitamin helps your body protect against aging by shielding cells, tendons, ligaments, and essential collagen from damage. It also helps you maintain strong immune function. 6 TIMES more calcium than whole milk. Despite supplements, many women (and men) don't get even half the calcium they need to maintain healthy bone density and strength. Salba® makes it easy to do what's best for your bones! 15 TIMES more magnesium than broccoli. Like calcium, most people don't get enough of this essential mineral. Stress, medications and a diet rich in processed foods can all sap your supply putting your energy level, cardiovascular, and nervous systems at risk for trouble. But Salba's natural magnesium stores help ensure you have the magnesium your body needs for vibrant energy, healthy blood sugar, proper nerve function, even healthy muscle and heart tissue. 3 TIMES more iron than spinach. Even slight deficiencies of iron can cloud thinking, shorten attention span and make concentration difficult. The iron in Salba® can help sharpen your mental function and promote a powerful immune system. MORE potassium than a banana. Potassium serves many functions in the body. The potassium in Salba® can help you maintain healthy blood pressure, proper kidney function, ease leg and muscle cramps and strengthen your energy levels. And this is just the beginning of Salba's® incredible nutrition. Salba® also offers naturally occurring Folate, B Vitamins, Zinc, Selenium, Vitamin A and many more to help boost your mood, improve your immune system and fortify your body. What is Salba®? Salba® is a 100% natural whole food that is a unique variety of the Salvia hispanica L. botanical family. Salba® is packed with more energizing nutrition than any other vegetable source, even Flax. After more than a decade of testing, no single food known to man can match Salba's® nutritional power. This ancient grain is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, with an optimal Omega 3 to 6 ratio, beneficial fibre, Calcium, Magnesium, Iron, Vitamin C, Potassium, vegetable proteins plus vital age-fighting antioxidants. Clinical studies suggest Salba's® unique nutritional make-up can: help boost energy levels, reduce blood pressure, improve your heart health, promote balanced blood sugar, aid in hunger management, promote healthy weight loss and support easy digestion. Salba® was first `discovered' by painstakingly sorting out the few white seeds produced from the mostly black seed of the Salvia hispanica L. botanical variety. Grown in South America, this whole food, in one form or another, has been around for more than 500 years and is currently produced in Peru's pristine Amazon Basin. It is certified Non-GMO and farmed without the use of chemicals or pesticides. In ancient times the Aztecs valued it more highly than gold, and for good reason. As legend has it, after eating just a handful of this nutrient packed seed daily, Aztec messengers could run from village to village over a number of days! It's no wonder they called this energizing ancient grain the " Aztec running food " . Today Salba® is grown under controlled conditions in some of the most nutrient-rich soil in the world, in the pristine land surrounding the Amazon Basin in Peru. Because the soil's natural nutrient stores have never been depleted, Salba® is packed with more naturally occurring beneficial vitamins and minerals than many fruits, vegetables and dairy products farmed elsewhere. Salba® is 100% natural. Who should use Salba®? Everyone. Because of Salba's® nutritional density, this ancient grain is beneficial to people of every age. .. Salba's® rich Calcium and Iron content make it excellent for women in their child bearing years, nursing and beyond menopause. Its high fibre content makes Salba® a great help to those watching their weight. Salba® holds 14 times its weight in water so it helps to swell the stomach and alleviate feelings of hunger while providing a nutrient rich food to cleanse the colon and bowels for more effective digestion. Salba's® superior ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids, fibre, antioxidants and minerals make it perfect for anyone concerned about fighting the aging process. Studies show these nutrients help reduce fatigue, strengthen heart muscles, improve blood circulation and flow, support healthy blood sugar levels, promote agile joints, improve digestion and enhance mental clarity and memory. Top of page To maintain Salba's® exceptional nutritional profile it is not encapsulated or manufactured into any kind of tablet or gel cap. Instead, you will enjoy Salba® just as nature intended: as a raw and functional super food. The serving size is 2 tbsp / 12 grams. You can sprinkle Salba® on cereal in the morning, mix it with yogurt, smoothies or salads. You can use it to bake or cook with by including it in breads, cookies, muffins, burgers, soups, casseroles, pastas or anything else you desire. Unlike other Omega 3 rich foods such as Flax seed, Salba® has no discernable taste. In fact, it tends to take on the flavor of whatever foods or condiments you mix it with. Salba® is great with anything from salads to desserts. http://www.salba.info Due to its unique composition, unparalleled by any other food, Salba® could be classified as a " functional food " in its fullest sense. Based on its composition, using data from major observational, animal and clinical studies, Salba® can be recommended for the following various applications of consumer interest: 1. Sport/Exercise/Physical Activity 2. Elderly and Aging Population 3. Children & Adolescents 4. " On-the-Go " Meals 5. Women's Health 6. Weight Loss/Wellness 7. Bowel Movement & Colonic Health 8. Vegetarian/Deficiency Diets/Famine 9. Specialty Diets

On their site the first thing it says is, " Salba is an ancient grain. " Sorry but ancient or modern, grain is restricted from SCD Here is a list of legal supplements " http://www.pecanbread.com/new/Sup1.html The list has been developed and increased for six years and is very comprehensive. Children seem to get an awful lot of recommendations for supplements and enzymes and many appear to have been helped by their use, while other parents have been able to rely mainly on the SCD food for their children and legal vitamins..
