I am finally starting yogurt, as I am no longer deathly afraid of

casein. :-) Anyway, I'm about to order the yogurt maker from Lucy's.

I've been searching the old posts and seen recommendations for

progurt & the yogourmet starters. Could anyone enlighten me as to

what the difference is, and which is better for starting out? I'll be

using goat milk.

Thanks, Angie

Progurt is dairy free and most using Goat start with this especially if

they weant to avoid all traces of cow dairy. The progurt is different

than yogurmet because it contains L. casei

Yogurmet: Has some cow dairy as the base that the bacteria are 'grown'

on. It contains L. acidophils along with the other yogurt bacteria that

are in both starters (L. bulgaricus and S. thermophilus)

More info at http://pecanbread.com/new/yogurt1.html#start

and at the sites for both products.

Hi Angie-

I am relatively new to SCD but just thought I would mention my boys and

I have switched to SCD from a previous GFCF diet and although I have

not introduced the yogurt for the boys yet, I have tried both types of

starters used with goat milk for myself. I had headaches and other

problem reactions when using the yogourmet starter, so switched to the

progurt and have done much better with it, seem to be tolerating it

with no problems at all

Sheri, would appreciate the information as to where you purchased the
