Guest guest
My son wants to eat several pureed bananas per day. He is in stage 1 so his options are limited. He also eats eggs, hamburger, chicken, chicken soup, carrots and applesauce. We are waiting for his next BM to see if we are ready to introduce the next new food. His last BM was Friday afternoon. Is there any reason to limit the amount he eats per day? Thanks, Summer mom to Josh, SCD July
Guest guest
You need to give your child plenty of calories and eating a couple of bananas is a good way to do that. But, since bananas are part of the BRAT diet that doctors prescribe for diahrea, they must have a " solidifying " effect at least on some people. Tha applesauce is also part of the BRAT diet. So I would say, since your child is not having at least a daily BM, that you should try to limit the banana to some extent. I know that's really hard when food choices are so limited. How about substituting homemade grape gelatin made with 50% water for some of the bananas? This is an intro diet food and you should be able to add it immediately. , mom to > > My son wants to eat several pureed bananas per day. He is in stage 1 > so his options are limited. I did decide to limit the bananas and it has gone over pretty well. He does not like the HM grape gelatin. So I have tried the chicken nuggets (although we call them chicken biscuits) and the chicken pancakes. He really likes both. We also make grape popsicles (1/4 juice, 3/4 water) and grape icy (ice crushed in the blender with a splash of JUST CONCORD GRAPE juice poured over it). He loves them.
