Guest guest
My daughter is in her 7th month on SCD. Although we didn't know if SCD would work, and indeed it seemed it would not, she is better. Her weight is up, her vomiting stopped, rarely does she bleed, her blood work is the best in 4 years, she grew a bit and she is on less medicine. However, right now, her appetite is a bit less and she lost a pound or two. She is making " burps " ... the unusual kind that I noticed before she was diagnosised with Crohns. The book: We Band of Mothers mentions that at the 7th month many do " burp " , but I think this is meant for autistic children. Any experience with the two steps forward...and one step back for a severe case of Crohns? I'm assuming go back to early stages or starter diet. Also, I thought I read that apple cider vinegar and honey is a good drink for reflux?.................... JT Mother of 15 year old teen w/ Crohns SCD 1/07 No virus found in this outgoing message. Has she changed the amounts of foods that she eats (eg. more carrots than normal or a lot of extra bananas) or has she stopped eating any food, stopped a supplement etc.. Guest guest
Hi Sheila..... I am a bit afraid. I don't want to go back to days (years) of illness. Have faith... Answers below.......... She did have a Lara bar that she thinks did not agree with her a week ago. (SCD friendly...but advanced). Has she changed the amounts of foods that she eats (eg. more carrots than normal or a lot of extra bananas) or has she stopped eating any food, stopped a supplement etc.. Lowered/stopped the calcium/d pill. But got more today. I'll keep thinking about this. She is sleeping now. She has also been more active and making herself wake up before noon. (seriously). You're right they are very advanced because they are dried fruits, whole nuts etc. Some of them are more advanced then the others. It most likely was the Lara bar, unless there were other new foods, supplements also. It may be best to either do the intro for a day or two or very basic diet for 2-3 days and then ramp up again to the foods she was okay with before the burping etc.. started. She may want to take it a little easier until she is feeling better again. Sheila
