Guest guest
my daughter (age 4) has been on scd for 2 months. she is only antifungals during the day, and i give her probiotics at night to keep them separate. she takes legal kirkmans l. acidophilis. for the past 3 nights she has been getting really hyper from the probiotics. i have changed nothing, same dose, same time. i am so disappointed because i just made my first batch of yogurt and now i am reluctant to give it to her just yet. has anyone out there had this happen? any advice would be appreciated! i know kids can get hyper from probiotics, but why would she suddenly get hyper from them after being fine for 2 months?? thanks! emma

Guest guest
there hasn't been any changes w/i the past week, a few weeks ago we started a round of diflucan though (replacing nystatin) she had some die off but then was fine for quite a few days before she started getting hyper, it might just be her getting a second wind though, it's hard getting them to bed early when it gets dark so late also, i went ahead and started the yogurt (has not made her hyper), 1/8 tsp the past 3 days, she seemed fine, then today she had a really mushy stool, with gas. behavior has been great though - should i continue with the 1/8 tsp or stop? thanks, emma > Hi Emma, > > Have there been any other changes in the last week or so? > > Any new foods or other supplements? > > Sheila, SCD Feb. 2001, UC 23yrs, PCOD 22yrs > mom of and > > > > my daughter (age 4) has been on scd for 2 months. she is only > > antifungals during the day, and i give her probiotics at night to > keep > > them separate. she takes legal kirkmans l. acidophilis. for the > past > > 3 nights she has been getting really hyper from the probiotics. i > have > > changed nothing, same dose, same time. i am so disappointed because > i > > just made my first batch of yogurt and now i am reluctant to give it > > to her just yet. has anyone out there had this happen? any advice > > would be appreciated! i know kids can get hyper from probiotics, but > > why would she suddenly get hyper from them after being fine for 2 > > months?? thanks! > > > > emma > > >

This may be die off and epsom salt baths may help. If the stools worsen either skip a day or two or reduce the amount. She may need to go slower if she has a lot of " nasties " to clear out.
