Guest guest
I'm wondering if this is legal or not. I saw a post that mentioned that Elaine said one or two drops are ok. Is this right? Also, is there a time when non-legal items can be slowing introduced? Will my daughter need to be on this diet for the rest of her life? She's done very well on it, but we've reached a point where she's become picky. I just bought a yogurt maker and made goat yogurt. She loved it the 1st few times, but now, won't touch anything with yogurt in it. Thanks! Cheryl Mother of Dorthia-SCD 01/
Guest guest
It is your call on the propylene glycol. It is not legal. However, you will probably use a very small amount. Elaine was ok with this *except* with ASD kids, as indicated here: http://lyris.dundee.net/read/messages?id=249386#249386 No one can tell you if your daughter will be on this diet for the rest of her life. Elaine's daughter was on it for 7 years as I recall and Elaine said to stay on it for a year after all symptoms are gone. My son used to like and then reject the same item. I finally thought to ask him why and he was able to tell me, so I adjusted my food prep and frequency a bit and we're good. I don't know how old your daughter is or how verbal she it, but if you can ask her, it might help. , mom to > > I'm wondering if this is legal or not. Guest guest
Also be aware that food coloring can cause some pretty severe reactions in ASD spectrum kids. My brother almost died as a kid, being truly allergic, my son just got really hyper and had hives once from food coloring. Many ASD kids will get an increase in stims, hyperness, etc from the chemicals in the food colors. Be especially careful if you have problems with salicylate processing, as these issues seem connected. K in Dayton, Ohio Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, Fibro, CFS, yeast/candida, copper overload, adrenal fatigue(mostly healed!!!) Kids: son Rhowan 5 yrs old, chronic diarrhea/loose stools, yeast/candida, ADHD, salicylate intolerance; daughter Willow 6.5 yrs old, mild GI issues, salicylate intolerance Started SCD June 2006, went slightly off for awhile in Nov 2006, back on strict SCD starting May 2007. (Just redid intro the last week of June 2007 and recently discovered that most carbs have to be thoroughly pureed in order for my son to tolerate them) > > > > > I'm wondering if this is legal or not. Guest guest
Here's a link to natural coloring. It's about Easter eggs but may give you some ideas. Also search our archives for coloring ideas. http://chemistry.about.com/library/weekly/aa042003a.htm , mom to
