Hi Everyone

I got sprung from Durham Regional and I was at home by 10:25. All the post

ops look pretty good, was still really nauseauted, and so am I. We

had a great litter yesterday. Angel Gwen and ( forgive me please ) the girl

who was 1 year out post op came by who was there with her friend Flo who was

having MGB. I talked to Margaret and Bev also, they are feeling great and it

was so nice of everyone who called or came by to remember myself and the

other littlerlmates. Hope everyone is doing OK and I am on my way to go take

another little nap

Be good and Happy Holidays

Hi Tarri

I am doing pretty darn good, I had Dr. R write me the prescription for the

patch, and , bang, like magic, I feel really good and no more nausea. :):)

Question for you guys out there.

I was wondering if you guys thought that sipping 8 oz of liquid in a 4 hr

period was too much. I am still kind of thirsty and would love to sip some

more, but this has the daylights scared out of me that that much could go in.

I would love to hear some advice from everyone and see if this is normal or

something that I should be concerned with

Thanks so much for caring!! I love the pampered feeling you guys are sharing

with me today! I feel loved!!! :)

Carla,

So glad to hear you're doing well. How is the nausea now? Keep us posted.

Carla, you ARE loved! But 2 oz/hour is not excessive, and if you're still

thirsty, drink more. 2 oz. every 20 minutes is OK I beleive. Your body

will let you know. Thirst is your body's way of telling you it needs

liquid. Let it have some! You'll be fine! PhillyJude MGB 11-3-00

Well, that's a good one. We are supposed to do 1-1 1/2 teaspoons of Citrucel

in 4 oz of water. I take one big sip = 1/2 of it, swallow not exactly slowly

but controlled and not gulping, then quickly get that second half in my mouth

and again control its passage down my throat. All of this takes place before

that stuff starts to thicken.

I haven't had any problems that way, and it tastes like Tang. But I am far

from the poster child of how to do things right. I sit here and read these

posts, and I think, way too often, " Gee, I don't do that " or " I can eat twice

that " or whatever. Then someone else writes a note, and they're way ahead of

me in what they do or eat, and I think, " well, I must be OK. " Truth is, I

think we all acccommodate according to our own particular set of

circumstances. Here's an example:

I am 6 1/2 weeks post-op. I now eat every 2.5 - 3.5 hours a day while awake.

I eat, for example, 4-6 ounces of soup, thick soup like chili or chicken

with vegs and noodles. Or I eat a nice piece of fish with a little rice; or

a small salad with a piece of fish maybe 4 oz. fish. When my tummy says

stop, I put my fork down and it's over til the next time. Sometimes that

happens half way thru the fish; sometimes, I eat the whole 4 ounces and am

looking around for more, wondering why my tummy hasn't signaled. Then I take

one bite of something, and there it signals and I 'm done for a couple more

hours. In between, I drink water and in a day get in at least 32 ounces,

usually more. If I'm doing this wrong, somebody let me know. But it feels

right, I feel well, and other than my frequent poopies (which is the story of

my life, to a certain extent, anyway) I think I'm doing fine. And speaking

of that, I am now taking some digestive enzymes, and it's making a huge

difference! I alone probably could NOT provide the gas to heat my block, nor

am I on the throne nearly so often. Today, in fact, only twice! I haven't

really tried meat yet, just fish and ground turkey and deli turkey sliced so

thin you can see thru it. But I love fish! I eat fish for breakfast, lunch

or dinner, and never seem to mind. And salads. Little simple, spinach and

arugula, salads. Love them!! Little olive oil and a couple real olives, I'm

a very happy camper! So, that's my story. I lost 24 pounds the first month,

won't weigh again til 1-3-01, my two month mark, but can see the difference

in my clothes and folks are starting to notice. Be well; take your time.

The surgery was the easy part. Making these adjustments is the real trial.

But, if everyone else has been able to do so, have no fear that you will as

well. And we're all right here, ready to help at a moments notice, so realx,

put your feet up, and enjoy the ride! You are in my thoughts. PhillyJude

Carla: I don't think that sipping 8 oz. is too much. Liquids don't stick

around long if you get my drift.

Hi Flo

Thanks so much for the advice. I still feel like I might tear something up

in the new stomach. I cant wait for the 29th to get here so I wont worry so

much about making a leak. That is the only thing that scares me!

Hope you and yours are doing well and Happy Holidays!
