Guest guest
Heavy cream is allowed on SCD if you use lactose drops for " eating up " the rest of the lactose in the cream. I have an old post from Carol that gives a source for buying the drops. I'll forward it back out to the group. Meleah Cream Hi everyone. I am asking if there has been a past discussion of using cream in the diet. I know that the book " Breaking the VC " recommends against it. I also am aware that the btvc.info website says cream contains " lactose " . But cream should be all fat. Has anyone tried any types of physical processes (other then 24h fermentation to make French cream) to eliminate any milk contamination with lactose? What have previous discussions said about the use of unpasteurized " raw cream " which is recommended in other " no complex carb or disacc + plenty of naturally fermented foods " diets? Did Elaine (or someone else) ever suggest using raw cream combined with enzymes once on the diet for some time? Guest guest
Hello, Dr. Bowman, I was not privileged to be part of this diet " back in the day " , but I have searched and I find no evidence that Elaine recommended raw cream. Meleah is digging up the info on the lactease drops that enable some to enjoy regular cream. Best wishes as you start the diet. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
, No, no physical processes with cream -- well, other than turning it onto butter and disposing of the remainder! can be used, for SCD. But you can make an absolutely astonishing yogurt with it! And, you can use Lacteeze drops (Lact-Aid no longer manufactures their drops in the US) in the cream alone, allow it to sit for 24 hours, and use small amounts of this on coffee and tea. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
