Guest guest
My son has been on SCD for just over 3 years now and I'd like to start making some sunflower " granola " bars for him to take to school this fall. Are buying bulk food store roasted, not salted, sunflower seeds okay or do I need to buy raw and roast them myself at home? I have a vague recollection about concerns with buying roasted... Guest guest
The concern about roasted is the possible addition of starch to make the salt stick. The unsalted roasted seeds will be ok. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
I'd like to add to this that if you are fairly new to SCD, your son is not going to be ready to have seeds in just a couple of months. Seeds are an advanced food, and shouldn't be used until a good six months in to SCD. Guest guest
Hi Cherly Your signature say your son recovered from ASD. That if amazing. I am new here. Our family has been on the diet the one week. Our 3 & 5 year old were diagnosed July 1 2007 ASD. Our 6 year they think is aspersers. We are all celiac. Anyway my husband and I have noticed great changes in our kids in the last week. My 5 year old daughter , who does not speak in sentences walked up to me 3 days ago and said ( I am so happy ) she also asks for food now , in stead of crying. She is also using her hands less to talk. Our 3 year old that does not talk, said( I eat ) and(I drink) when he was standing at the kitchen. He has also started to singing the alphabet again, something he had lost 5 months ago. He is counting again too. I feel the best I ever have felt in my life. Everything was making me sick. even GF cooking with no sugar. We were a very healthy eating Gluten free family before. No junk food it was all homemade organic. But it was killing us. We were always sick. I just want to say thank you to such a great group, I have learned lots and I have lots to learn. My kids love muffins so I double the recipe in the BTVC book add 2 cups Steamed ground veg + 2 cups cooking ground chicken+ 2 TSP extra soda 2 tsp cinnamon + homemade almond milk to moisten batter. Our daughter refuses to eat some veg and all meat so this works well for us.
