Plastic jars of tomato juice

Hi -

I am teetering on the verge of SCD and am trying to build an arsenal of SCD

foods for after

the intro diet...we can't use any canned foods so I am wondering if the plastic

bottles of

s tomato juice are okay.

Also, can I roast the chicken before making intro soup with it or does that

wreck it? I think it

might add more flaor if it is okay. Also, I know that salt is an okay SCD

seasoning but is it

okay for the intro diet? It would make things easier...

Thank you in advance for answering my newbie questions. I have wanted to try SCD

for

months but have been afraid to make the leap. I look forward to learning enough

to be a help

on this site oinstead of being a " lurker. " :-)

Thanks,

Hi, ,

Welcome to the group.

You may roast your chicken before making soup if you want.

Salt is fine for the intro diet. And for later, the bottled and canned

tomato juice with only salt added is legal. Regarding foods in cans,

after the intro canned pineapple juice with no added sugar is also

allowed. (Dilute fruit juices with 50% water.) Fruit canned " in its

own juice " [these exact words must be on the label]is also allowed

after the intro. These days only canned pineapple seems to ever say

this and you have to be really careful because the pineapple sometimes

says " in pineapple juice " and that should not be used.
