Guest guest
Well, I've just finished the book, have read MOST of the pecanbread site and am feeling completely overwhelmed. So, here's my story. My 6 yo son (ASD) is basically allergic to everything. We started out GF/CF and depended so much on corn and soy, that he became allergic to those; so we depended on rice...he is now allergic to it; allergic to egg, peanut (was born w/ that one); ALMOND; Walnut; oats; goat milk, and I'm sure I'm leaving something out. I have absolutely hit the wall. I have the feeling no one from this list is going to ask me, " so what does he eat? " As you all know the alternative way of eating can be very creative...having said that, it's extremely challenging. Fundamentally, he is allergic to some of the very fundamentals in the SCD diet. Is it possible to be SCD with so many allergies? I realize the whole idea is to heal the gut...does anyone have a child w/ so many allergies who is succesfully SCD? He also won't eat fruits or veges. Right now, I don't think he eats 90% of the required scd diet. Having said that, I don't know what else to do. We have been to so many docs...no one tells me that they have any idea how to stop this cycle (no pun intended)...except scd. Thank you for any advice you might have. Guest guest
Hi, Laurie, You have a huge challenge here. I notice you said that he " won't eat fruits and veggies " not that he can't. You really are going to have to stand firm and get him to come around on the fruit/veg issue. When your mind stops reeling, go back to the pecanbread site and take a look of all the sneaky ways we have of hiding veggies in foods. Read old posts on our list and see how people cope without eggs. Fortunately, some of apparent allergies are probably not true allergies and, given time to heal his gut, he will be able to tolerate more foods. Let's look at the intro diet foods. I know he is allergic to eggs. Please let us know if he is allergic to any of these: roast chicken well-cooked carrots broiled ground beef patties Welches grape juice apple cider plain gelatin mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Sorry I've been so absent...son has been crazy as he is reacting to something and we can't figure out what it is. Anyway, the only thing I know he is allergic to is gelatin on the list. I am also trying to boil apples right now to get those in him to start introducing some of the foods' je recntly ate catelope as well. I think I want to also see if I can get him to eat the homemade yogurt before starting the diet. I just need to know I have him built up enough to start. Having said that, we're fairly desperate right now. He is incolsible with red itchy eyes and we can't figure out the offending food. It's time to cut and run on SCD but I feel like I need to understand it more. Sorry so long...thank you, Laurie. > > Hi, Laurie, > You have a huge challenge here.
