Hi, I've been looking for a list of food salicylate content and have found many

but all soooooo different. I'm a little confused so I don't really know what

foods are safe for my daughter right now. I found on a list that bananas are ok

and in a different one that they are high in salicylates. Does someone really

know what foods are to avoid and which ones are OK? I'm trying to make a menu

for my daughter and don't find foods that are ok... I don't know what to feed

her. Can someone who has experience with this help me?

Your help will be greatly appreciated,

Ximena

Hi, Ximena,

Here's a good link about phenols. The second link is a list of foods

according to amount of phenols.

Ximena,

i thin k you asked me about this already and i forgot to get it to you. i'm

very sorry for that. i don't know if you were sent this particular website yet,

but to me it is the least confusing. you'll have to copy and paste the link.

http://www.zipworld.com.au/~ataraxy/Salicylates_list.html

My son is so sensitive to salicylates that all he could have is cooked

pearsauce in the fruit category, no spices aside from salt and some garlic, only

a few veggies, etc. you get the idea. everyone is different. some can

tolerate low only. some can tolerate almost none. others can tolerate medium

and still others can tolerate any but high content. this list is good as it is

easy to understand and you can click on the amines list. sometime it may not be

the salicylate content but other natural chemicals. from what little i

understand, there are other chemicals in the " phenols " arena that can cause

problems. Some people can tolerate some salicylates, but on measured doses and

never in combination with each other.

this is not messing SCD. just some of us have more issues to work around while

healing our gut.

You can work with it to see what you do and do not tolerate. Especially pay

attention to the top part on the site that talks about how the food is prepared

that effects the salicylate content. we HAD to try the no-phenol for my son and

it has worked wonderfully. it is much easier to keep his weight up. i went

ahead and started just a tiny amount of the SCD dripped goat yogurt everyday for

my son the help his healing.

hope this helps.

best wishes with healing.

Thank you Bonita. I think I'll start out from this list and see what happens.

What kind of improvements have you seen in your son after the salicylates diet?

Would you mind sharing that with me? I want to know what to expect. You can

reply to me off list if you prefer. Thank you again.

Blessings,

Ximena

Hi, Ximena,

The confusion comes from the fact that there are subgroups of phenols.

Some people are sensitive to amines and some are sensitive to

salicylates and I imagine some are sensitive to both. I see Bonita's

message has a salicylate list with a link to an amine list, so

hopefully this will straighten it out.
