Guest guest
Anyone know what sort of damage melatonin can cause? it has really helped his CFS sister get the sleep she needs. It might be that something isnt 100% right with his serotonin production. We are going to see a DAN doctor next week (though we dont have the typical autism thngs, but we are assuming that since he is DAN he can help us figure out the food-brain connection my husband has... and hopefully find the problem that SCD isnt addressing (parasites, enzymes, thyroid, phenol?). He took a melatonin tuesday night and got so much energy and rest! He didnt take a melatonin last night, wednesday night, and woke not completely rested. We are thinking half a melatonin 2-3 times a week. Any ideas? - SCD since april 2007 husband with possible phenol intolerance, along with a range of other intolerances... stage 3 now. i am cautiously stage 1-2 with a little gas and bloating. dont have the gas and bloating on a just meat diet, but seem to get it when i introduce any new really cooked veggie or fruit. just got over a week of diarrhea. Guest guest
Many of us with ASD kids give melatonin. I'm not sure why Elaine was against it, but she also said that if the doctor prescribes something necessary for your child, you need to give it even if not legal. Of course, we try to find legal alternatives. So if your husband feels so much better with melatonin, I think you should continue it. Check the other ingredients and be sure there are not any sweeteners or starch or other illegals in it. Just a thought since you'll be at the doctor's anyway: why don't you ask the doctor if your husband should be checked for sleep apnea? mom to -12 SCD 3/23/
