Guest guest
For the second time in four months I have a sore throat that does not seem viral. The first time I had this it lasted for a month and a half and I could barely talk. It was one of the spectrum of symptoms that led to my Crohn's diagnosis. I have recently come to understand that it may have been Crohn's in my throat. I am so sorry to have this painful condition back and am trying to research what else it may be. Doctors so far have just shrugged and remarked on how red the patches are, like they're critiquing art or something. So my question is - does anyone have any similar experience? Also, is there a chance this is a yeast thing? The reason I wonder is htat the first episode occurred during / after a round of antibiotics. This second episode is 3 weeks into SCD. I know that antibiotics can cause thrush, and I have read that SCD can sometimes lead to yeast overgrowth at first. So how does one determine whether something is yeast? I read a lot of posts here in which members seem to know that this or that causes yeast problems, so I feel like there must be signs that I need to become familiar with. I don't see any white patches but I can't see very far back into the throat. My tongue has a pretty decent white coating but I know this can be caused by many things. The good news is that my constipation is a bit better now that I've discovered magnesium and beets, and stools are looking more normal than they have in a long time, even preceding the onset of my illness. I saw a very small trace of mucus last week but nothing since then. Thanks for reading and replying if you do! 3 weeks SCD for Crohns
Guest guest
I forgot to mention that I started taking 1 capsule a day of Kirkman's S. Boulardii the day before yesterday. Also started taking Kirkman's EnZym-Complete/DPP-IV II, starting off with just 1 capsule with each snack/meal. I am doing grapefruit seed extract every now and then, too (not taken with S. Boulardii).
Guest guest
, I come from the ASD end of this, not the Crohn's so I don't know. I hope someone will be able to answer you. Here is something you could try and I'm sure it wouldn't hurt anything. I know you are eating yogurt. Are you able to slowly increase the amount? Can you hold it in contact with the sore spots for a while before swallowing? Do you have any acidophilus powder? Maybe you could sprinkle some directly on the sore areas. This works for thrush. I think if this were thrush the doctors would be able to identify it, but you never know and as I said, this couldn't hurt anything. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
