Guest guest
hI, I'm about to start first time on Goat Yogurt. I can't find any kind of Goat milk except half-skimmed in a TetraBrick (1L) container brand named: President. Everyone is talking about getting fresh pasteruized or non-pasterized, but all I have a ccess to is this. Is is leagal???? It has no additives although there is another one by the same brand also half-skimmed but with " less " lactose. I don't trust this one of course and wouldn't consider it. Thanks everyone! Guest guest
Since it has no additives it should be fine. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
Thanks for your respnose, The President Sem-Skimmer Milk in TetraBrick was just delivered. Checked contents: Goat Milk (semi-skimmed) Stabilizer E33911 Vitamin B9 Please excuse my doubts.Am I right, isn't B9 Folic Acid? So it's Ok, right? As for the stabilizer.... I can't find any ref. to this on any of the SCD sites. As it's not mentioned I'm going for 'OK'.Just that I don't want to delay in getting in some of the yogurt benefits. Although I'm gonig ahead with the prep. I'll continue my search in the meantime for ordinary plain milk. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks for looking this up, Marilyn. So is it legal? Here is the chemical composition: NaH2PO4 Does that help any chemisty-savvy people out there? Although I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff (10th-grade chemistry being...a number of years ago) it doesn't look like a sugar to me. What does starch look like chemically? I'd ask my husband, but he's not home. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/04 > >As for the stabilizer.... I'd ask my husband, but he's not home. , We won't discuss how many years ago my 11th grade chemistry class was. <LOL> I have a list of most of the E-codes and what they translate out to, along with lists of bunches of additives that I'm trying to gradually determine whether they might or might not be legal. (They're in SO much stuff these days, even stuff you formerly thought was fine!) A starch is a carbohydrate. Carbo = carbon, hydro = hydrogen. My guess is that sodium phosphate may be legal, but of course, I'm not Elaine. What I can say is that it does not, so far as I can determine, fall under any of the obviously not-allowed categories. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Hi F. , <<<As for the stabilizer.... " from wikipedia and this site http://www.drugs.com/mtm/sodium-biphosphate-and- sodium-phosphate.html it is used to clean the bowel in larger amounts. So if the NaH2PO4 is the only sodium phosphate in the milk it probably wouldn't be a good thing to use. I was thinking I had read something about phosphates and laxatives somewhere, but my brain is seriously not functional today. All I was seeing was that it wasn't overtly illegal. But I don't think most SCDers want bowel cleaners! <wry grin> I'll mark this in my file for future reference. I wonder if the Disodium phosphate and the sodium biphosphate are the same thing? Doesn't seem like it, since the one refers to two sodiums and the other refers to two phosphates. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

I was thinking I had > read something about phosphates and laxatives > somewhere, but my brain is seriously not > functional today.>> It was in the enemas I used this year for my colonoscopy prep. It was quite effective!! <<I wonder if the Disodium phosphate and the sodium > biphosphate are the same thing?
