probiotics and milk for yogurt

Okay, I should know this by now, but it didn't apply to me so I

didn't study it hard enough, yet. I did do a search on the listserve

but couldn't find exactly what I needed. (Of course, its the searcher

not the searchee that's the problem) Raw goat milk is not to be

found here right now due to distributer problems. I can find powered

Meyenberg goat milk and Meyenberg ultra-pasturized. Haven't tried

the powdered yet, but the ultra-pasteurized seems kind of yuck. So,

we probably won't have the yogurt (terribly sad) unitl I can find a

farm locally that sells it. The end of the world could come before I

am able to find things.

So, probiotics are the only answer right now. For my ASD son, should

he take the S. Boulardi and L.Acidophilis or just one of them? Will

I have to order it from GI Prohealth or is it possible to find local

stuff suitable? I did look at a local coop/healthfood store and it

didn't seem like they had an appropriate one. Seemed like they all

had too much in them. However, I really don't know exactly what I'm

looking for. So many of them say they have so many different strains

in them and I really am unsure.

Any advice please. I really have to get some probiotics in him. I

am just broken hearted about the unavailability of raw goat milk

here. We haven't been doing it long, but my husband (who is not

totally on the SCD bandwagon for us got to where he loved it). I

don't want to spend all the money for the powdered if it is nasty.

What do you guys use who can't get raw goat milk and how does the

yogurt turn out?

Thanks for any info.

Definitely get the l. acidophius. The S. Boulardi can be added for

extra help for yeast and/or diarrhea. It also combats clostridia.

I found L. acidophilus at a health good store. It is dairy free and

its only other ingredients are gelatin and water. The brand is

Nature's Sunshine. But it is less potent than the SCDophilus and when

that became available again I switched back.

I do not know how goat yogurt from powdered turns out. We use the

ultra-pasteurized. We don't know any different and my son likes it

fine. We drip it or use it in smoothies.
