Guest guest
My daughter has been unable to eat any cheese or dairy and is not at the broccoli or hich calcium vegetable stage yet. I tried giving her the all one brand of calcium, which she seemed to react to-so I stopped that. I started the probiotics 2 days ago and plan to start the scd goat yogurt which I have made within the week. SO, she is getting no calcium at the moment and I am wondering if I should start the yogurt now...I plan on giving her just the 1/8 teaspoon. I know this won't provide her with much calcium, but at least we would be on our way. Any suggestions? nah Hansen Mother to 3 yo undiagnosed celiac Ella SCD since 8/2/
Guest guest
Hi nah, You may start with the yogurt early if your daughter was not on a dairy free diet prior to SCD. Many children on this list have too much calcium. Bacterial overgrowth may lead to an increase in calcium. Mimi > > >
Guest guest
You can make salmon patties using wild caught salmon with bones. This food is high in calcium. My son actually likes to eat the bones, but I puree it before I mix with egg, almond flour, onion, and parsley so that I can also include the skin (high in Omega 3's) and liquid that comes in the can. If you can't use almond flour, etc. yet, the pureed salmon can still make a nice sort of dip. I order my canned salmon here: http://www.vitalchoice.com/ mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
When would it be ok to introduce salmon?? We are 3mths SCD and still stage 1. I would LOVE to add a new meat like the salmon patties below. Right now he only has beef and chicken (pork seems to cause bowel issues). I can't find any info about when I can add fish so I'm hoping someone can advise me on this. Guest guest
Hi , <<I told a nutritionist at Whole Foods that I have known for years about my son's new diet. She recommended that I give him mineral supplements. Do you all > agree?>> In BTVC Elaine cautioned about using mineral supplements. She wrote that taking incorrect amounts can throw off their delicate balance (Chapter 9). She wrote that you could check with your physician about the impt. minerals: iron, alcium, potassium , iodine if concerned about insufficient levels. There are some good multis listed at http://pecanbread.com/new/Sup1.html Freeda's SCD multi, kirkman's etc... You may find that once the body starts to heal and more variety of foods is tolerated that supplements aren't needed.
