Guest guest
Hi, Goran, Did you try straining the juice? Here is a way to make pear juice that is not so sandy. Steam the pears in an electric steamer. The juice will collect underneath and you will have juice and cooked pears, too. mom to -12 SCD 4/23//
Guest guest
I also peel and chop my pears to make pearsauce. I then take the juice out for drinking and puree up the pears for sauce. You can add a little extra water during the cooking and the juice is not so concentrated. I found that pear/pomegranate juice is wonderful. Bonita Re: PEAR JUICE RECEIPE ??? Guest guest
Hello Bonita It called my attention that you say pear/pomegranate juice is wonderful. It is a low phenol/salicylate juice, right? Do you buy it or make it yourself? if you make it how do you do it? I'm still looking for a good juice for ,she drinks a lot of juice but very diluted (1juice/3water) so I haven't been able to find a good one to replace the grape juice she's been taking. Thanks for your help. Ximena Bonita Todd wrote: I also peel and chop my pears to make pearsauce. I then take the juice out for drinking and puree up the pears for sauce. Guest guest
Ximena, The pearjuice is very low in salicylates. Pomegranate is higher in salicylates, but it doesn't seem to bother my son as much as grape and the others. Grape seems to be one of the least tolerated among the group of people I know that have trouble with salicylates. Of course, that is subjective to the group I know. I peel, core and slice or chop the pears. I cook them to get them soft. If I want a little more juice, I add water to the pot when I start cooking them. I strain out the juice and puree the pears into sauce (which I think is wonderful) and I save the juice for drinks. I don't have access to fresh pomegranates so I buy the Knudsen " Just Juice " Pomegranate juice which is supposed to be SCD legal. Then I mix some of each in amounts particular to my liking at the time. I don't give my son much juice at all so when he gets it, he gets it in small amounts. The pomegranate is what we make his jello out of also. The pear/pom juice is a special treat for him. Bonita Re: Re: PEAR JUICE RECEIPE ??? Guest guest
Thank you Bonita. I think I'll try the juice to see if she tolerates it. She drinks lots and lots of juice. I've been diluting it even more but she cries when her " juice " has no flavor at all, so I think it will take a while for her to get use to that. Thanks and best desires for the recovery of your son. Ximena Bonita Todd wrote: Ximena, The pearjuice is very low in salicylates. Guest guest
Goran, The pear juice is naturally sweet and I personally don't think it needs sweetener. The pomegranate juice is a little more tart, but my son is so glad to have juice that he doesn't really complain. I will tell him he can have this " special " juice and he is just so excited that he can have it. The pear juice makes it a little sweeter too. Honey with no additives is SCD legal if your child can tolerate it. You could sweeten it with a little of that if your son won't drink it otherwise. But, if there is a yeast problem, its not a good idea to sweeten it. Bonita Re: Re: PEAR JUICE RECEIPE ??? Hi, I just want to ask you both, what you use as sweetener in these juices????
