Guest guest
The goats milk I've been using(for yogurt) since april is now fortified with D3 and folic acid. I was so happy to find goats milk that wasn't fortified as my son is very sensitive... So would fortified goats milk still be legal? Thanks, Cathy Kids scd since aug 2006
Guest guest
Hi Cathy, <<The goats milk I've been using(for yogurt) since april is now fortified > with D3 and folic acid. Vitamin D3 is heat sensitive and will be degraded when you heat the milk to make goat yogurt. From http://www.freepatentsonline.com/20010001801.html : " Vitamin D.sub.3 is sensitive to light, air, heat and acid. The melting point of vitamin D.sub.3 lies in the range from 84 to 87.degree. C. " Folic acid is also heat sensitive but I am not sure at what temp it degrades.
