Guest guest
An EGD is a esophagogastroduodenoscopy. The most common name is an endoscopy. This is used to diagnose and correct GI (gastrointestinal) problems. I had one because of the misinformation going around about bile reflux. The test is a little pricey $900. But, if you have had reflux, or other GI problems in the past, insurance will cover it. They stick a long thin tube/camera down you stomach to look at it. It takes 15-20 minutes. It doesn't hurt. They give you an IV combination of Demerol(75mg) and Versed(7g). (They gave me 7g of Versed because I am " high strung " and hard to relax.) If they see something eerie, they will take a biopsy to send to pathology. That's the quick and dirty of an EGD. le
