Guest guest
Hi All My doctor initially prescribed glycolax(Polyethylene Glycol) to my daughter for her extreme constipation. I had reservations about using it, but I saw in the x ray how full she was of poo-so I used it. He suggested I continue indefinitely, to keep her regular...I preferred to use dietary means to control her bm's. THis was all about 3 months ago, she began pooing soft poos daily-but her mood, sleep and tummy aches continued. THat's when I found out about the scd diet. SHe is so much better since starting...BUT....her poos are quite hard and like little deer pooplets. It is worse in the last few days, and although I would like to control it all with diet, I am feeling like she may need a little clearing out. She eats lamb, steamed squash, green beans, peas and zucchini, 1/8 tsp scd goat yogurt, a lot of electrolyte drink from the scd website. She hasn't gone very much in the last few days and she eats SO much. DO any of you have experience with this glycolax and do you know if it is scd safe? ps..I was looking on the label for the ingredients and it listed children, under " who shouldn't take this medication " !!! sorry if I am repeating myself, I just want people first reading one of my posts to know the background! Guest guest
Hi! There is a constipation protocol of SCD that you should try before giving the medication or veering from the diet. It is a misconception to think that " clearing someone out " is a good thing. I suffered from chronic constipation for a number of years, and while it was quite relieving to use colon cleanses, I had no idea that I was only exacerbating the problem in my small intestines. You don't want to feed any harmful flora that might be present, you don't want to risk damaging or impeding the healing of the small intestinal lining, and you certainly don't want the side effects of the drugs. I think a lot of people have had success with the constipation protocol! Hope it helps! http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/knowledge_base/kb/ constipation.htm - scd since april 2007
