Guest guest
Hi, My son Garet is on day 3 of the intro diet, and doing pretty well. He has always been a constipated kid, but yesterday he had " liquid " stools, and was really cleaning out! He is going to be 10 in October. We tried the SC diet about 3-4 years ago and did it for 8 months and we had great results. The reason we stopped was he had severe constipation because he wanted to limit himself to to many nut products and meat. I realize now, that I added in nut flour way to soon, and was not boiling and broiling all meat in the beginning. I plan to do it by the book this time. Being older, he seems to understand that we are trying to heal his tummy, and cooperates almost better now then he did the last time we tried it. He also has acid reflux, and I hope and pray he can get rid of it on this diet (I know it may take time). The only drug he is taking is singulair, which I hope to get him off of soon. He does take apple cider vinegar to help with the reflux, is that a big problem? Also, I was wondering what the estimated time is on each stage of the diet? I know it depends on how well foods are tolerate, but what is the average time people are staying on each stage before progressing to the next? Thanks so much..... Patti G. Guest guest
Hi, Patti, I don't think the apple cider vinegar is a problem after the intro. During the intro, skip it if you can, then add things one at a time. Sometimes there are meds we have to leave the kids on because they really need them. You might need to consider the apple cider vinegar a med and just keep doing it. It's probably much better than a lot of other things your child could be taking. You know your child and if he can be off it during the intro or not. Honestly, I don't think anyone knows an average time for each stage; as far as I know no one has collected the data. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
