Guest guest
the following is for your information, post ops and pre ops. Please DO NOT POST THIS on LT's list as I am not writing this to inflame or upset anyone but just to clarify some facts. LT has a right to her opinion and I wish her well but hope that each one of you will not only listen to LT and other individuals but will also research the facts. 1. Lurk the following lists for several months and READ every message: DS Post op: http://www.egroups.com/group/DS_PostOp WLS graduates http://www.egroups.com/group/Graduate-OSSG On the above site, there are a couple with MGBs with NO complications even after a couple of years. 2. Read the Norman Ackerman book, FAT NO MORE which can be found on www.amazon.com. This is the only book available on WLS and it's really excellent! 3. Totally read and study Dr Rutledge's excellent website! It will take you a while - there is a lot of information there but take that time to do this. 4. Listen with caution to zealot post ops (or zealot pre ops!), either yeah or nay. They feel strongly but may not be furnishing the best info when they are trying to sell you for or against their particular procedures. Look at facts and you will find that the MGB stands up well! 5. Here is a neutral website. http://gastricbypass.netfirms.com Sorry there is no negative info about the MGB on this site (If you REALLY read the anti-MGB physicians site, they don't say ANYTHING specific and link to LT's site... questionable ethically, in my book - and if you read LT's site and get to her medical documents you will find she's lost weight and only has 'mild gastritis' from the so called bile reflux, so what's the problem?) ... I'm waiting to find any 'life threatening' complications... I've met no one with this, only a couple of bile reflux and " MILD " gastritis, not life threatening in my book. Most folks, over 1000 now, are wildly happy with their MGBs... what can I say? Back to lurk mode, SueW PS: there is a rather high number of medical providers (including physicians) who chose the MGB... maybe they know something? Guest guest
Thankyou. This is the type of helpful and non-judgemental feedback I was looking for, the reference to Dr Ackerman's book is particularly useful (as you say there is lot of information on the website and I had not found this link yet). I am also very impressed with the results that Dr R is achieving and I will follow your advice and keep on lurking and learning. I do not mean to upset anyone by asking " sensitive " questions or impose on people who believe I should follow the exact path they chose to follow, I just want to know the facts as much as possible so I can make an informed decision. As you would be well aware MO and the decisions I will be making affect not only me but also my family. My thanks to the other people who have also supported me so far in my quest and to those who have offered encouragement. phil Re: to clarify some facts about bile reflux the following is for your information, post ops and pre ops.
