Guest guest
We use the P5P on the advice of 's DAN doctor. It's in the multi- vitamin she recommends. I don't remember discussing why P5P. I found this at a random internet supplement site: Supplementation with vitamin B6 as P5P can be helpful for those unable to produce it efficiently from pyridoxine in the liver. mom to -12 SCD 4/23/
Guest guest
P-5-P is the active form of B6 in the body. A person can take B6 as Pyridoxine HCL, and it not get absorbed and used in the body because of several conditions: " Subnormal activity of this enzyme (pyridoxal kinase), low levels of zinc or magnesium, or impaired membrane transport can cause a deficiency of P-5-P. " Thus, a deficiency of B6. This can occur as a result of many different imbalances, illnesses, medications, etc. You can read the websites below for more info. http://www.vitasentials.com/p5p.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B6 My husband isn't absorbing his vitamins properly. We feel quite sure of that... waiting for OAT results to confirm. He really likes the b vitamins from GI pro health with P5P. We havent tried the Kirkman ones yet. If you can afford the extra cost, I recommend b vitamins with P5P included. ...unless you are quite sure based on OAT results for a particular child that he/she has good amounts of B6 in the body. - > > Does anyone know the difference between vit B6 (Pyridoxine > Hydrochloride) & P-5-P or which one is better for ASD kids. > > Thanks > > Leena > Mum of Clarice Belle , 3y 1 mth, ASD, SCD Jun 07 >
