Canned food?

My son has very bad food allergies and the foods he can eat is very

scant. He has seizures from eating the wrong foods. He can eat

avocado, beans, cauliflower, olive oil, certain organic turkey and

canned salmon that I order from Dr Mercolas sight. I was very upset

to learn that the canned salmon is not okay. Does anyone know why

canned food is not okay? I pay $98.00 for a case and more than that

for 6 fillets. Pretty expensive, so I really hate to give up the

canned. Any thoughts?

jo, good news:

Canned fish, canned in oil or water is legal. SCD does not allow

canned meats, canned fruits (except in own juice), and canned

vegetables.

In BTVC it says that canned fish is legal (as long as it only comes

with water, oil and/or salt.) So canned salmon is legal. I have some

everyday : )

As per BTVC, other canned meats are not legal. It is because of

different regulations governing different types of foods. Other than

canned fish canned meats can have additives included that may not be

reported on the label.
