Guest guest
Hi All, It's been a while since we've been to Pecanbread since we had some oxalate issues and tried some alternatives, but now we are looking at SCD again. At any rate, during my search for a diet that would work for my son, I came across the Paleo Diet. I see a lot of similarities. Am I wrong or is SCD just a hardcore version of the Paleo Diet? Does anyone know the differences and/or disadvantages to one over the other? I'm really trying to do the right thing for my son. Thanks in advance. -- Mommy to - age 4/aspie and 11 months-so far so good GFCFSF January 2007 SCD June/July 2007 and maybe again Mommy to 4 yrs pdd-nos/asd/Asperger's Traits (almost fully recovered) and 8 months (so far so good!) Guest guest
Hi , You are right; the Paleo Diet and SCD are very similar. SCD is better for people with IBD or ASD. The advantages of SCD are the following: It is easier on a damaged GI tract. One example is that SCD recommends only cooked veggies and fruit. Many folks with IBD cannot tolerate raw produce. The emphasis of SCD is on eliminating gut bugs. The latest research shows that most of the symptoms of Autism can be induced by LPS, a bacterial toxin. ASD children are very EXTREMELY vulnerable to LPS for the following reasons: 1 Children with ASD have incredibly high levels of LPS. Rosseneu found that 94% of 80 children with regressive autism and chronic constipation/diarrhea had approximately 10,000-fold higher than normal levels of E. coli in their stool.[6]( E. coli are gram negative bacteria that have LPS. ) 2 Results of scientific investigation indicate that most ASD children produce an excessive, innate immune response to LPS. [7]. Scientists have found that the immune responses to LPS are more harmful than the bacterial toxin itself.[3] On this list we had a mother named Antoinette. She had implemented the Paleo diet prior to SCD. She reported much better results with SCD for the following two reasons: the emphasis on strictness and the SCD goat yogurt. Here is a website that explains how bacterial toxins may induce autism: www.microbialinfluence.com The references for the statements that I posted are on the bottom of this webpage: http://microbialinfluence.com/Vegan/vegan.html Mimi

" I wish that you had been around when I showed up 18 months ago and was being attacked for this very conparison! I thank you for telling this lady about SCD and paleo connection! I was once told to leave to Healing Crow for doing this....and was even put on moderated status. I forgive....This is awsome that Pecan Bread is turning around for the better. SCD works because ELIANE knew how to end gut disbiosis (bad gut bugs)...GOD BLESS HER FOREVER for her work! Antoinette and the Silly Yaks at the Bunce Zoo!
