Guest guest
Well, I have fought having my pancreas removed because I've been told that the probable result will be what they term " brittle " diabetes. That is, very difficult to stabilize. As I've had such bad luck with the dozens of procedures, I've decided that the fewer surgeries, the better for me. We all have to make our own duly informed decisions about what is best for us as individuals, and in my own case, I'm pretty sure I no longer have the fortitude to recover from another major surgery. While I have it, at the very least, I'm not yet a diabetic. Love to you,
Guest guest
, I don't know if you have read or know much about the total pancreatectomy with auto islet cell transplant, but here is some info about it: They remvoe the pancreas take it to a lab and remove the islet cells from the pancreas. They then take your own islet cells from your own pancreas and transplant them into the liver. This prevents diabetes. If one ends up with diabetes after the surgery it is usually very tightly controled diabetes. I had this surgery done a couple of years ago. It was the best thing I ever did.
