Guest guest
Hi guys, Well, my ongoing saga continues. I went to the ER Sunday night with another attack and my lipase was up but not my amalyse. My bowel was not working. So I talked them out of keeping me at the hospital since I was going to the lake for vacation the next day. I called and Dr. Adam's wanted to see me. I went in on Wed. He said it is not looking to great for my sphincteroplasty. He was hoping I would be alot better by now. I am still having attacks at least twice a week. He gave me oxycodone and a script for miralax which has really helped! I finally had a bm today. It was the first one in a week. I had a horrible attack last night. We were at the lake and I had just gone to see Dr. Adam's on Wed. I was going to eat at a seafood restaruant with my family near where we were camping. I spent the whole time in the back of the van laying in the back seat in the fetal position. I would not go back to the campsite and ruin their good time. My kids had so been looking forward to going to this place to eat. I had to take 8 oxycodone before my pain would lessen at all. I was so frustrated. My hubby kept coming out to check on me and wanted to take me back to the ER but I wouldn't let him. I got my paperwork to take to the pain man. doc and I didn't realize until I read it that I have sod dysfunction. I guess he may have told me but I didn't realize it. I just thought I had pancreas divisum. Does everyone who has pancreas divisum have sod disorder? I guess it makes sense since he had to open them up that there would be a disorder of the sphincter but I never knew it. I am so dumb about stuff sometimes. Anyway, I am alot better today and finally had a bm today. My pain is much better but I came home a day early from the lake and my family is coming back tomorrow. I just could not sleep on that hard bed in the camper anymore. I am so down right now. It is really upsetting me that the surgery doesn't seem to be working. Dr. Adam's wants to see me in 6 weeks to see how things are going with the pain doc and see if I am any better and if not he says we may have to try something else. I told him no more surgery right now unless it is a live or die situation. I am glad I have you guys to turn to! I know you all understand my frustation and no what it feels like. I hope everyone is doing o.k. I am catching up on my emails and haven't started reading yet. I will catch up tonight and tomorrow. Take care everyone! Guest guest
Dear Angie, I have panc divisim and SOD as well. I had found that it is crucial to be sure you have a BM everyday. If I missed one day, the pain would flair, big time. For some reason, it is extremely important with this disease to keep the system flowing. It seems that when you are constipated the pressures build up and it causes increased pain. . The pain meds aggravated the problem as they are constipating. It is a vicious circle sometimes. Glad things are moving now and you are feeling better. Hopefully things will calm down now. My thought and prayers are with you. w Wisconsin --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Guest guest
Teal, I am glad to see I wasn't the only one! I am also in a study. Are you in the one from Pittsburgh? Maybe that is why they didn't tell me. I didn't understand why they wouldn't tell me something like that. I am much better today just still getting really tired after the surgery. I was hoping that now at 6 weeks out from surgery my strength would be back but it is not. I think my iron is low. I go back to see my Diabetes doc and my local GI doc this week. so hopefully I can make it through until I get to the pain management doc next week without any hitches! My doc did give me something that has helped. He gave me Miralax for the constipation and it is wonderful. It has really helped with some of the pressure and swelling in my abdomen. Hope you are feeling better!! Angie in SC " The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything that comes along their way. Guest guest
Angie, I'm so sorry you had such a bad time during your vacation at the lake. I know you said you had been looking forward to it. As for your question, no, not everyone with pancreas divisum has problems with SOD. I know I don't have SOD, yet I do have pancreas divisum. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... Guest guest
Thanks Kimber. I wasn't sure if it went hand in hand or not. How are you these days? Guest guest
Angie, sorry I didnt get to this sooner, but I had a tooth pulled on Thursday and haven't been in good enough condition to go online till today. My panc. is luckily behaving itself today. Yesterday it flared a couple of times. It was like the tooth pain had touched off the pancreas for some reason. Hope you are doing well.
