Guest guest
Chrissy, If you read my earlier message to Kathleen I think it explains how we think these orders came down. There's always that one person where you work who has more authority and can pull the strings to make your life miserable if they don't like you, right? I think you had someone just like that when you were working at MUSC, remember? Thanks for your support of the whole situation and your understanding of what stage Austin has blossomed into. Since you've had to deal with the same with Tommy not too long ago, I may be calling you for advice....LOL!! I've already told Austin that he is the complete opposite in behavior than his father was at this age. Oh....did I ever have some horrible problems with when he was 13! It was an entirely different scenario that he had to adjust to. That was the year that I married Bob, and had gotten used to feeling that HE was the head of the household and the one in charge. After living with me all those years that I was divorced and raising the two children on my own, he did not take well to having another authority figure in the household. After rebelling for a year or two he settled down and finally got it worked out, but it was a rough journey for a while. Austin is just so different in that respect, and always has been, thank heavens! I don't expect to have such a difficult time with him. Even though I've raised both of them, their differences in attitude and behavior are remarkable, and Austin's always been one who will listen to me. It should be a good year for us. Thank you, Chrissy, for thinking of us. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep. South Eastern Regional Rep. What a retched creature she is. She actually told people that I got cp because I was an alcoholic. Well I truly believe what goes around comes around and she got hers! My co-workers definelty let her have it about how she had treated me when I got sick. She was asked to leave because they had so many complaints against her. Now she has no staff and basically does inventory. I know what a frightening time this must be for ya'll. I had read where ya'll were talking about the internet communications, thats great. I can just imagine how reassuring it will be to know that you will be able to talk with often. Six isn't that long and he will be back home by spring. I will keep him in my prayers that his stay will be uneventfull and he will return home safe and sound. I hope that the stress of all this does not cause you any undo pain. Youknow only too well how stress can affect the pancreas. Take care of yourself OK and let me know if there is anything I can do to help out. Guest guest
Chrissy, Trying to keep my cool, but it's hard because some of the facts just don't make sense. 's a " fly-boy " for sure, being AF and in the C-17's, he's not combat trained, of course. Those aircraft just slide in there, off-load all their heavy cargo and then slide right out as fast as they can. Although he's been all over Europe, the mid East, Japan, Asia, etc., it's always been fast and quick on a big heavily skinned aircraft into airports out of the direct line of fire. So tonight when he talked about wondering how he could transport his M-16 when he's on a commercial aircraft I really started to lose it. And Kathleen's right, being in the Air Force is " Military Light " compared to the Marines and Army. Each branch of the military service has distinct functions to fullfil, and their troops are trained differently because of those different functions, so other than the Survival School which they all have to attend when they first begin, what they do while they're in is vastly different. He spent his first year in service as a cop, and I'm glad for that now because he learned some more elusive maneuvers in that field than he has since he got into the C-17's. But he's still not had any experience in the type of work he's going to be doing over there, and itsn't at all savvy about living and working in a combat zone, and that's what bothers me. I'm trying hard not to think about it too much, cause if I do, that's when the old stomach starts churning and I can feel myself tensing up. Austin, Bob and I are taking off on Tuesday morning for our summer vacation week, so I'm trying to think only about that.....and the packing I still have to do!!! Catch ya later! love, Heidi
