Guest guest
Dear , The recall of Duragesic and fentanyl patches that you are referring to is NOT happening at the present time. This is a recall that happened from February until April of this year. Certain lots #'s of the 75 mcg. Duragesic had some leakage problems, and for a short time nearly all the fentanyl patches were recalled until the problem was identified and resolved. I was using a 75 mcg. patch at the time of this recall, and for several weeks it was very difficult to obtain substitutes, and people ended up having to use a combination of patches to make up their full doses. The telephone number that you listed is the number for the attorney's that were representing clients who filled suit against the manufacturer's when this recall was done. They are looking for more clients to make money off of. It is not a number for an official representative of the FDA, which is who you would need to talk to concerning any recalls. Please check these facts more thoroughly before you post them on the board, an announcement like that could get a lot of people worrying unneccessarily I'm shocked that your doctor started you out first time on 100 mcg.'s of a fentanyl patch. Recommendations by the manufacturers and doctors is that ANY new patient start on the 25 mcg. patch, even those that are opiod tolerant. It's recommended that the patient start on the 25 until they get accustomed to the side effects, and then graduate up to a higher dosage once their side effects have cleared. No wonder you're falling asleep and tired!! That dose is double of what I take, and I've been on the patches for 2 - 1/2 years, and is enough to knock out a horse if you aren't that accustomed to taking continuous large dose narcotics. You may wish to have your doctor reduce the dosage of the fentanyl patch to something not as strong, and then see how you feel. As I told you earlier, I initially was drowsy and sleepy with mine, and that was starting on 25 mcg's. After a few weeks the side effects disappeared, and then they increased my dosage to a suitable point. With love, hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina Rep. Southeast Regional Rep.
