Guest guest
Hi LInda, I was on octreotide/sandostantin injections for a very long time. I was started on it in the hospital IV right after having the Beger procedure (an organ sparing whipple). I then was started on the IM injections first every 2 weeks then every 4 for months. I was getting really ticked off about it because I felt it was doing nothing and cost a fortune so I refused it. Well within 6 weeks of my last injection I was begging for more. It did not stop the pain at all but it certainly alleviated it to a point. I stayed on it up until just a few weeks before I had my pancreas completely removed. It did help, I still had to take narcs but when it had worn off the pain was unbearable. I hope this helps and if you have anymore questions please dont hesitate. Warmly,
Guest guest
, Sandostatin and octreotide are the same thing. I had experience with it. It worked very well for six months but then my body built up a tolerance to it, and it no longer worked after that. Crystal Galloway
