Guest guest
Zoie, Thanks for your post. I knew that I read it here too. Of course, my experience with Nitro was only once. I was rushed to the ER by ambulance because of chest palpatations and pain. By the time I got to the ER they couldn't move me because I was in a full-blown SOD attack. This was of course before any doctor told me what the heck was happening to me. I used to say that I got " severe esophageal spasms. " Anyway, at the time of that episode, I had been diagnosed with a DVT (deep vein thrombosis) in my leg 2 months earlier. Therefore, the nitro was probably used to ward off any heart attack, etc. that they thought might happen. Turns out that after the Nitro they made me drink some sort of GI drink. It numbed your throat and made me want to vomit (YUK!). But after 5 minutes from taking the Nitro, the attack vanished. I was amazed. Now, when I look back on that experience, I am considering talking to my doctor about using it on rare occasions. Of course my daily pain is controlled with demerol/phenergan. My SOD attacks happen approximately 2-3 times per month. Too much for me! The attacks always leave me sore and feeling like I'd been hit by a truck, AND it takes about a week to fully recover.
