Guest guest
I have to add my blonde opinion to this subject...I researched the pain pump issue just over a year ago and made an appointment to talk about it with my pain specialist...he gave me ton of literature to read through, a DVD to watch, and the name of someone who had a pain pump implanted (not for CP)that I could talk to and ask questions. My pain doctor really discouraged it, only wanting to resort to it as a last straw. I live in Colorado...and although I don't hike like I did...there is an elevation issue with pain pumps. We found out that I couldn't even go on some of favorite drives because I would be above 8,000 ft. I live at nearly 6,000 ft as it is. I know that this wouldn't be an issue for most of you on this board. Also, no more hot tubs or heating pads...and the heating pad is something I don't think I could live without! (OK, my name is Suzi and I have an addiction to heating pads, especially when I really hurt!) Some day I may need to go to a pain pump...but I am trying to hold off on it. I know that they really help people in pain...and I certainly am not against pain pumps in anyway...just giving some reasons why I haven't done it (yet) Hugs, Suzi B.
