Guest guest
Hi Laurie: Long time,no hear!! Or however you'd say it I guess. Thanks for the info....and there is NO way that I would be able to undergo that kind of therapy..just the thought of it makes me nauseous...blech!! I have an app't. on 5 August with the physical therapy part of the hospital that my pain clinic is affiliated with as I guess the protocol is to go there for the first treatment with the TENS unit and if it seems to help they send you home with one or at least the recommendation for one. So, I'm hoping that it helps...anything at this point. I put the question out there (to this group)regarding edema because I've been having a terrible problem with it for the past two months or so but have only seen a couple of responses. It is SO bad that my feet feel like they're going to explode - I can literally feel the skin stretching. The ankles and calves are bad as well...so much for the capris this summer!! My PCP has me on a diuretic that supposedly doesn't cause pancreatitis (interesting that he never quite wanted to dx me with pancreatitis except in the beginning when my enzymes went up for the first and only time but now is giving me a diuretic that he says " won't cause pancreatitis " )....oh well, you and I have discussed the signs and symptoms thing at great length previously so guess that is why!! His thinking is that the Neurontin that I'm on (initially prescribed for panic attacks/anxiety) are the culprit so he's got me reducing those in addition to taking the diuretic. When I mentioned this to my pain mgmt doc he said " you've been on the Neurontin for years so why would it be causing you trouble now? " I'm thinking that it's all the drugs interacting... Is this a common thing to expect with cp/SOD? Seems a few of people in this group have been affected by it. Very uncomfortable and I also get it in my abdomen which now looks like I'm about 5 months pregnant!! Also, unlike so many on this group, instead of losing weight I'm gaining weight (probably partly edema related)...I've actually put on about 20 lbs since this time last year. Is this at all common as well? Oh well...if anyone has any answers to the above questions I'd sure appreciate hearing from you!! And, Laurie, thanks again for writing!!
