Guest guest
You know, , you hit it on the head, because I was just talking to a girlfriend about this same thing! My parents were elderly and would NEVER challenge a doctor, nor know what kind of questions to ask! My Dad simply got ready to die when they told him he needed to have a heart valve replaced! The idiot doctor never told him he'd be as good as new, which he was! And I was saying that, I had always assumed that, when I reached the point where I am now, there would be some kind of non-narcotic drug available that would simply melt away the pain! And I firmly believe that such a thing, maybe a synthetic, or something, IS possible, right now!!! Pain control simply is too political right now, thank you very much insurance companies who hold sway over malpractice coverage! Right now, though, in my really vast experience with all kinds of pain relief meds, the Fentanyl patches are far and away the best, with the least side effects. Problem is, though, after a while, they get less effective at a given dose, increase that, and THAT gets ineffective, and I think they only go up to 200 mcg's x 72 hours! And I'm there now! The ignorance of the medical community, the foot-dragging of the pharmaceutical companies, and the overall terror of drug abuse has caused those of us in legitimate need of long-term pain control to suffer needlessly, and that makes me livid!!!! Gee, didn't mean to " go off " like that! Night, in Indy
