Guest guest
, I am not an over religious person but I have to have faith, like you, that everything happens for a reason. When I was facing so much time away from my son for medical proceedures (why don't we call it what it is anymore. It's surgery!!) and it was more than I could bare, I turned to a good friend for comfort. I cried to her and asked what I did that God would be punishing me with bad health like this. Naturally as soon as I spoke that I realized what I said and was sorry as God is not vengfull and doesn't try to be mean or make life harder on us. But still I wondered what I had done to have these problems. It was then that Dawn told me that sometimes God works through us to teach other people lessons. Maybe this health problem wasn't for me to learn something about but for others to learn from. Either medically or for some other purpose in their life. And then she also said what my Grandma always said...That God never gives us more than we can handle. Just wanted to share that with you. Hope in some way it helps. This is what I think of when I am not doing well. And that is how I try to get through this illness. Sandy in Ca -------------- Original message -------------- I have always believed that things happen for a reason as well. I keep telling myself that as I try to rationize why at my age I am living like I am. I had so many plans, dreams, goals and they have all been stolen. I will be 44 next month and this is not at all how I expected my life to be. Maybe I can land a job taking care of pancreatic patients. I guess if I can help one person then maybe all this has been worthwhile, in a way.
Guest guest
it helped me, what you just said. I reliazed this happend to me to get me to slow down. It took this to make me see certain things. That is just the beginning of my journey. I have learned that sometimes, I have to stop. I can not always give and give, sometimes, I have to save my energy for myself. It has taught me to listen more to my body and that we exist on other levels. I never really understood that until I had 3 days in the hospital when I was out. I woke up once after ercp and I thought maybe a few hours passed, well, 3 days had passed. I realized the onlt thing that matters in life are your relationships. When that attack was pver, I started working on damaged relationships and getting rid of dead wood in my life. I used to get mad when people complained about traffic and such. now I just smile and can't wait for the day when that is my only care int he world. I just wanna eat and stop knowing my doc so well. ya know?Seems like a lifetime ago when things were fairly normal. I think part ofmy journey too, is I volunteer for make-a-wish. I feel the need to give something, only in a different way that normal. It's hard to think about yourself when you kids who when thei life long dream is to meet Elmo. Keeps things in perspective. One night I walked out in the courtyard of the hosptial and just watched people. I realized, yes, I may not be able to eat, but some people can't even breathe on their own. I stopped taking things so seriously. I paint each toenail a differnt color, shades of blue and green. I went to the MAC counter at Nordstrom and told the girl to give me artistic color. I was tired of people telling me how pale I was. I got torquiose rubber bands put on my braces, (I am 36) I started shopping where my daughter shops and trying all new things, new music, I cut 9 inches off my hair and got it hi lited. So much good has come from me having cp. It has been such a blessing. I learned the hard way who my friends are and who they are not. I am not afriad of anything anymore. I don't kow all of the 'why's " , but I am really looking forward to the rest of this journey. It's made me a much better human being. I hope you can find the good in yours. Thank you for sharing. -Kat TazLady21@... wrote:[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
